Stevie G. to leave Liverpool - Official

It may depend on how you learned about the club too.

I think Peter, Fabio & myself make up the youngest with that view.

I was brought into the fold standing on the Kop learning what to do & how to behave (& having the influence from the likes of soccer am corrected may I add) from the older generation.

Peters & Fabio learned similarly from their season ticket holder parents.

Without meaning to deride anyone I'd posit the argument that fans brought into the Liverpool fold from further a field won't have that attitude readjustment that comes through being told stories from the older generation about players & their place in the club, & they also have more of an idealistic view of players as superstars, whereas we are just young (ha!) enough to remember seeing players as people first & foremost, rather than the pampered celebrities that are kept insulated from the fans these days.

Or perhaps this is all just speculative bollocks & some of us are more pragmatic than others!

I learned from those around me in the Kop. I didn't want to stand out that much as a cockney among 27,000 Scousers. I'd like to think I've learnt well.

As for Gerrard. Better wordsmiths have already said it.

"I don't think that they are forcing Steven out. I think that he has decided that he wants to play more regularly than it has probably been intimated to him that he will, so he has decided to move on. I don't think that Liverpool should have been held to ransom to say give Steven Gerrard anything he wants to stay. When you do get to a certain stage of your career things change. I'm sure Liverpool would like him to stay but obviously under different circumstances in terms of the contract he will be offered with the finances. I suppose Steven will then have to maybe accept that he will probably not play as much as he would like. He has felt he does not want to stay under those circumstances so he leaves but that is fine as everybody's career comes to an end."

Good work that from Barnesy, completely agree.

I just want to know what the fuck you were doing that we didn't beat Leicester. Stay too long in the Harry?

To be fair I cant see it being much different that that

Am I being a bit mean for cringing when I see people have typed out "HE'S BIG AND FUCKING HARD"?

It's a little bit gay in both senses of the word.

I'll take you one step further: I cringe when it's sung. The song is shit.

Wizardry is boss.

Only you fucking wabs could argue about a legend leaving the club.

This country!!

I'm not arsed about all of this. I don't even know why any of you mings are kicking off. This was always gonna happen and you can't seriously be surprised that he's leaving

He is no longer a guaranteed starter for every game and he's leaving the country to get a fat wedge and cos everyone where he lives seems to hate him. He got kicked out by his bird anyway

Why does everyone where he lives hate him? And what's this about the wife kicking him out?

Please tell me there's going to be some big scandal story coming out with Gerrard...

Well not literally everyone. But court cases and gangs and robberies and all that probably take their toll. I walked past his on Sat and there weren't even any dogs outside, can only assume this means the dog handler was inside banging Alex

Fucking hell I don't remember Wizardry being mental. I went back and read the post in an Alan Partridge voice and it was great fun. Try it!

It works in a David Ike voice too. A few sentences about Reptillians orchestrating things in the Dark Ages when the 'family unit' decided to shag like Billy-o and it would be perfect.

I wonder what it would sound like in a Morgan Freeman voice?

Hmmm. Still better than this account of the dawn of the 'Dark Ages' and the incoherent babbling cultural history on the value of human life. Give me the Kahl any time.

It's kinda weird that of all the big moments Gerrard has given us one game that has always stuck in my memory is that early CL qualifier away to TNS.

As I remember it, we were making a meal of things and when Gerrard came on there was immediately this massive gulf in class. Not just between Liverpool and TNS, but between him and everyone else on the pitch. He scored a couple of goals without really trying and put the game to bed.

I think it was the fact that even against such rubbish opposition it still took Gerrard to give us that lift.

He scored a hat trick in the home game as well didn't he? I went to that one and unless I was bladdered, I seem to remember him getting all 3.
