I know he's not overly popular amongst Liverpool fans...rightly or wrongly and he's renowned for being a bit of a Bluenose but he always comes across as being genuinely delighted and excited when we win. Maybe it's just me.

He looks like he could get dead edgy and unpredictable. Like Joe Pesci in Goodfellas. Whenever he's like 'yeah go on mate' to Ferdinand when he's interrupting him he says it like he's going to stab him in the eye if he tries that shit too many times.

He is completely unremarkable to me. He's like one of those mates you used to hang around with years ago and have a mild interest about what they're up to while you daydream.

There seemed to be a beaky, wired edge to him last night. He also made some comment that was addressed to Scholes and Ferdinand about United's midfield or something but didn't seem like a question, more like an aggressive statement, and it just ended the discussion, leaving the anchor bloke to fill the angry silence

Quite funny really

He did that a few times, and his smug grin and "told yer so" demeanor when Howard Webb said it was a penalty, it was pretty nonchalant to say the least. It worked though, when they went back to the three of them later on, Scholes and Ferdinand had stopped moping around and blaming the ref, and they started to rip into United.

As Macca rightly said at half time in the studio, they were deflecting blame with the pen, they should have been discussing how great Liverpool were, and how diabolical United were.

He was obviously relishing the performance and result but at the same time Scholes looked like wanted to kill himself and Ferdinand was clearly angry.
