The best person to know at the club is the old woman who sows the initials on tracksuits. She knows fucking everything almost immediately.
Ha, that did cross my mind. How quickly they get it done.

Rumours that Phil Thompson is to be announced as assistant manager today.
So Kenny's "Number 2" is Steve Clarke, and his other "Number 2" is Thommo?

I think he's got one too many twos.
I think Clarke is just first team coach and not his assistant.
Sometimes it's best not to think just go to the official lfc site and get the right answer easy.
hahahahahaha, what a wonderful wisecrack from you, once again. i don't care what anyone thinks of you as a poster - as a wit and comedian you are practically faultless and leave me in awed hysteria time after time.

i really, really, really admire you. a lot.
Que? Didn't someone else say this, this morning/ Peter Hague to someone?
Yeah, just pointing out that he should have used it in a place like I did.

Comolli has just said that Kenny is effectively under consideration long-term.

Where did you hear that Gerry?

The press conference for Kennys unveiling.

It doesn't really mean anything though. He can't really say he'll definitely be going in the summer.

I think if kenny lifts the uefa cup he'll get the job long term else I just think the owners will just get their own man. if kenny a cup in his first season back the owners will have a difficult choice on their hands.

Read on another site that the Clarke appointment has Deschamps written all over it.
Could be true if he's sounded out to take over in the summer.
I wouldn't be at all surprised, I think the Kenny appointment as a whole suggests they can't get the man they want until the summer, and they realised they couldn't stick with Roy until the end of the season. If they could've got their man in now, they wouldn't have appointed Kenny. This suggests, they know who they want, they just can't have him till the summer.

New Liverpool FC coach couldn't resist chance to team up with 'football great' Kenny Dalglish
New Liverpool coach Steve Clarke admits the chance to link up with “football great†Kenny Dalglish was an opportunity he could not turn down.

The former Chelsea, West Ham and Newcastle assistant had been linked with a couple of managerial vacancies but leapt at the chance to join the 59-year-old’s backroom team at Anfield.

“I was sat at home doing nothing and now I’ve got the chance of working with a football great in Kenny Dalglish and also working for one of the world’s leading football clubs,†he said.

“This was something I couldn’t turn down.

“I am grateful for everybody who has given me such a warm welcome, especially all those at Melwood (training ground).

“I am really looking forward to working with Kenny and the rest of the staff to help bring good times back to the club.â€

The appointment of the well-respected Clarke will go some way to silencing the critics who claimed Dalglish, who has not managed for more than a decade, had been out for too long and was not equipped to deal with the modern-day demands of the game.

Clarke was a part of the coaching set-up which saw Chelsea win two Premier League titles, an FA Cup and two Carling Cups over three seasons under Jose Mourinho.

Mike Kelly, whom Hodgson brought with him from Fulham as coach in the summer, was not involved with the team in their FA Cup defeat to Manchester United at Old Trafford yesterday and his departure from Liverpool will be confirmed in due course.

“Steve is a great addition to our backroom team and I’m delighted we’ve been able to bring him into the club,†Dalglish said.

“I am looking forward to working with Steve alongside Sammy Lee (assistant manager) and our other technical staff.â€

Dalglish was officially unveiled to the press at Anfield this afternoon, where he reiterated his delight at the arrival of Clarke.

“It is important we have good backroom staff and Steve comes into that category,†he said.

“To be fair to Steve he was phoned last night and he was up here for training this morning - which tells you the lure Liverpool football club has to someone.

“He was very instrumental in the success of several clubs, none less so than Mourinho’s spell at Chelsea so we’ve got a decent guy there.

“He worked well in tandem with Sammy this morning so it looks positive for us.â€

I wonder who had the idea to bring in Clarke. Great move.

Now for kicking that shit-for-brains Kelly out of the door.
I think he's gone - so I'm told
Rumours Kenny told him exactly what he thought of him too.

Didier Drogba once told me Steve Clarke was Chelsea's real organiser, post-Mourinho. Scolari was in charge, but still a big compliment. Paul Hayward, the Guardian

So once Jose left, and Scolari took over, Steve Clarke was the 'big organiser' which resulted in a dismal title challenge, the sack for Scolari, and Clarke departing for West Ham.

Fucking hell, really well done.

HAHAHAHA.
Here's my initial thoughts about all this malarkey.
Im soooooo glad Roy is gone the dithering face rubbing old twat.
I hated Kelly and his fucking primary school tactics board, so im glad he's gone and home he gets hit by a fucking bus on his way back to London.
I want Sammy Lee fucked off. I dont know if he's amazing or awful, but i think he is synonymous with everything bad about the club the past wee while, and his face annoys me and i just want him gone. No emotional attachment, just womble off lad.

I like the appointment of Clarke a lot. I think he was excellent at Chelsea and i like the idea of signing winners to the coaching team.
I dont care about the tradition and history of the bootroom and all that jazz anymore, it hasnt worked for 20 years and we need to move forward. I think the Comolli, Clarke thing is a step in the right direction.
Hopefully next season we have
DOF-Comolli
MANAGER-Sexy fucking hunk
AM-Clarke
COACH-Top Euro coach.

Screw you and your sexy manager Oncy, I want Kenny to stay! We're gonna go on a mad run finish 4th and win the Europa League.

Kenny can rock a V-neck as well as anyone!

Even if Dalglish does an average job I really cannot see how the owners can turn to anyone other than Kenny.

Firstly because we've already got a Manager who is happy to with the set-up the club are building around him. The candidates which we're interested in may not share NESV's preferred methods of working.

Secondly, because fan pressure will play it's part. Roy was never warmed to mainly because the majority of Liverpool support knew he wasn't good enough, but it was also because this joker got the job ahead of a club legend in the first place. Ill-feeling was there, and that was just after a job application. After a 6 month taster session and providing results start going our way, then they are surely going to be left with no other option.

People say fan pressure is a bad thing, but the fans were right in the summer, and there's every chance they'll be right again 12 months down the line. Here's hoping.

Yes!!!!! This. Every. fucking. time.

I honestly believe that Kenny will get us organised and winning again. His appointment of Clarke is pivotal and the possible coaching role for Carra is one for the future. While many don't care about the bootroom tradition, it still has a role to play and the Ling is going about it smartly by getting his in place.

Kenny will return the club to its core values, rightful place and stature. It's DESTINY!

i gots a baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaad feelin 'bout this

It's weird, ever since Kenny was appointed I've felt this unexplainable tingle in my stomach. It's something I haven't felt in a long way, something I used to feel about football when I was a kid, something a cynical part of me has killed a long time ago while top level football has become more and more money driven and boring. This just feels right and everything Kenny does, says etc. feels right. And looking at him in the dugout against the Mancs again felt so right. Maybe I'm seeing what I want to see but looking at his eyes there you could see how much he cares and how he'll do everything to get us back on top. I so want him to succeed and get the job on a permanent basis and at least my heart believes he can do it. I'm not even consulting my brain on this one.

Very nicely put.

Fabio and Bunny, let's wait and see, shall we? A few years ago I'd have agreed with you that appointing Kenny permanently would be a bad idea but, if he does well enough to be given the job full-time, maybe his long absence from the game might even turn out to have been of benefit in recharging his batteries. I thought it was significant that Marina's tweet on the subject ("waking up next to the Liverpool manager" etc.) seemed genuinely enthusiastic.

But you've spent the last year arguing for him to come in as a caretaker and that the man himself wouldn't want it on a perm basis.

That's perfectly true, because I believed the stories last summer to the effect that that's what he himself wanted, not least because of Marina and the Foundation. Whether those stories were wrong or whether minds have been changed in the meantime, the picture seems to have changed overall. I'm not now saying he must get the job permanently BTW, but I am open to persuasion that it would be a good idea after all.

I think he'll be perfectly happy to step aside once another candidate is wanted; but I very much doubt he's looking at this as a temporary thing.

He wants the job,fullstop..and he knows that if he does as well as could be expected it's his for a while.

And why not?

The club went for the supposedly safer choice between him and Hodgson and that put us in the shit.

This is a worthwhile gamble.

He stated this yesterday. He said he would step aside and will only do what is right for the club.

He did, mate...but I'm sure I'm not the only one who thinks he wants this.

You said it yourself; 'he can do this'.

And if he does, he's not going to leave, and we shouldnt want him to.

Depends what your definition of 'do this' is. Can he improve on Hodgson's tenure and lead us back to the right end of the table? Yes, absolutely.

Can he take us back into the Top 4 though? Can he win us the league? It's all very well saying he did it before, but that was a Liverpool team that had been winning consistently for 15 years. His achievement at Blackburn has been underrated, but it's still more equivalent to Mancini's task at City than it is to any manager's at the current Liverpool.

I'm not saying Kenny is definitely the wrong man for the job, but if you put sentiment aside, his CV is not quite as persuasive as some people are making out. As happy as I am that he's back, I do fear that we are headed into Newcastle-dom if he ends up staying on a permanent basis.

It depends on how much he achieves in six months.

I guess alot will depend on where we finish, how we do in the Europa, how well new signings fair and the type of football we play. If we're heading in the right direction at the end of the season then it would only be fair to let him see it through.

Newcastle-dom would be blindly sticking by him because of who he is, despite poor form and then allowing ourselves to go into next season hoping he can turn things around, to then sack him after a couple of months anyway and leave ourselves looking at another stop-gap manager.
