Sterling Contract Situation

The club are playing a dangerous game and all the speculation doesnt help. Raheem wants to stay and the club must play ball. Offer the lad a contract that he deserves and get it signed.

Ayre and Rodgers don't need to fan the speculation or say anything to the press. All they need to do is do right by Sterling and tie him down to a long term contract.

Sterling wants to start playing well and score goals before demanding anything. Not that we know he is demanding ridiculous wages.

He's already started playing well as far as I'm concerned, but if he *is* making demands I agree we shouldn't just give in to them.

Seeing as we dont know whats going and Raheem has said we're waiting for his 18th birthday, I cant really see how we're playing a dangerous game.

My guess is he'll sign a new contract pretty soon.

I'm guessing he'll sign tomorrow, for a slavish pittance like 15-25 grand a week🙂 until he is 21, poor guy! My only fear is that Ayre is involved and in a desperate effort to regain a bit of face after the Carroll and Downing signings, plus the Dempsey saga that he might be trying to play hardball.

We should just find out what someone like Oxocube Chamberlain is getting for Arsenal and pay him that.

According to Dominic King, Rodgers has taken a hands on approach in the contract negotiations to ensure they reach a succesfull conclusion.

I don't understand why people are so relaxed about this.

We desperately need to hang onto this kid, he doesn't need us at all

Because there is no need to panic or troll yet.
He said it himself that we're waiting until he's 18, and he has 18 months left on his contract.
Wheter he signs tomorrow or next month doesnt really matter, because in the end I think he will regardless.

From Rodgers comments I'm guessing it could be something with the wage structure and that we want him to have a yearly increase or by the number of games played or something.

Tbh I think he does need us a little. I can't think of any big club he could go to where he'd be given more money and be a guaranteed starter. If he left he'd most likely just be another Sturridge.

We've created the perfect situation for Sterlings agent. He's better than guys we recently gave 80k a week

So unless we bend over and take it we could lose him.

Stories that are doing the rounds on other forums and Twitter is that he'll sign soon, so its the 14th of December and still nothing to worry about yet.
