Jones doesn't play for us. Apart from that, and having Aurelio on the bench rather than the pitch, I think you're probably right - that will be the team.

We need balance and attacking options.

-----------------Reina
----Degen---Skrtel---Carra---Aurelio
---------------
---------------Masher
---------------
---------Maxi-----------Reira
---------------
---------------Aquilani
----------Kuyt----------Babel

I'd give Babel once more chance especially after N'Go's performance against stoke.
Babels finished for me. Sooner he goes the better. At least Ngog tries.
Up until the stoke game I would have had N'Go in ahead of Babel any day of the week. I think a game up front with his international team mate and on from the start might actually produce something from the spinless, lazy bastard.

Riera and Maxi to start on the wings please. Its torture watching Aurelio plod around and Degen thinking hes Ronaldo every time he gets the ball.

Degen's been one of few highlights of late imo.

I'd be tempted to throw him in the mix on behalf of one of the CBs. I simply just forgot about him as he's normally very injured.

Rafa will not drop Lucas. So lineups should include him. Given he's been far from the worst player we've had I think he's justified his starting place.
Why? Because he's mediocre and some of our players are shit?

Come on, he's been useless in the majority of our games, utterly fucking dreadful in quite a few, ordinary in the rest.

He's so far removed from what a Liverpool midfielder should be, and play like, that it's painful, and symptomatic of all that is wrong with our club that we hail every performance that meets the MINIMUM requirement as some kind of midfield masterclass.

Lucas is not the real problem. I even reckon he's been MOTM or thereabouts in our latest outings (it means nothing but still he's not the real problem here).

He's turning into a very decent squad-player he really just shouldn't play as much as he does.

Like I've said in the past I'll never believe Lucas is good enough for LFC. Never. But I'll say this much for him. Given the two years plus of shite and blame that's been put on him (a lot of it justified) he's never hidden and he's never let his head drop and he's playing to the best of his ability when all around him aren't. Nobody's hailing his performance as a masterclass so stop being overly dramatic but it's a bare minimum as you say. Until the players with greater ability in the team start playing to a level that even matches what Lucas is producing then he's entitled to his place in the team. Those players around him aren't even hitting the "minimum requirements" and completely lack the guts that this lad is showing.

Can't argue with any of that. He's never once let his head drop, despite the torrent of abuse from the stands. I thought he played well against Stoke anyway, created a couple of chances aswell. He might not be good enough but he's playing better than most of the team at present.

The thing is with Benayoun, Gerrard, Riera, Johnson and Torres out of contention he may as well be the only player we've got left who's got the ability to leave defenders stranded.

*I reckon Aquilani and Maxi has got the ability too but they are not there yet.

I thought Degen was woeful against Stoke
Thats being kind.

Id start Maxi because hes scored lots of goals in his career and we are seriously short on potential matchwinners. Yes Degen can run with a football but hes a fucking brainless numpty.

Who can forget the incident early in the first half when we were coming out of defence only for Degen to smash the ball up field to absolutely no one? He was hopeless.

Lucas is not the main problem.
The main problem is Rafa picking him week in week out.
I think the side at Stoke was the worst in a decade in terms of quality.

---------------Reina
Degen---Carra-Agger---Aurelio

Maxi-----Mascher-Aqua--Riera

-----------Kuyt-Pacheco

Rafa will play

Carra--Skrtel-Greek--Insua

---------N'Gog

I don't see why anyone would drop the Greek. He was easily our best player the last day.
Against big shit house players he could do a job. Dealing with the pace and movement of Defoe is another game altogether.

I'm not sure if any of our defenders are playing well enough to deal with Defoe, we have to start playing our in form players and hope that inspires some of the under performing ones. Anyway the majority of the goals we conceed are coming from set pieces, he seems to be the only one capable of dealing with them.

Again, playing the greek with Carra would be ok, the defense is not the problem.
Our main problem is the midfield. Our team is completely unbalanced because of it.
Lucas is shite, he cant even dive properly :-X but again thats not his fault if our manager is clueless.

LFC parking the bus at Stoke. That was painfull to watch.

Lucas has been one of our best players over the past few games. Not saying a lot, but it's true. He needs to play too, or our supposedly better players need to start playing to their full potential.

I agree completely with that. He did a good job against physical players. A really good job if I'm honest but could suffer against mobile and nippy players.

I think he's one of our best options if Crouch is playing - unless Carra knows a few inside tricks.

Spurs look to have better players to pick and are playing better football. Hard to see us getting over the top of them at their place but we'll be a minimum of 7 points off 4th if we lose. Another Villa performance would do me - I'm not really expecting it but it would do me.

That Stoke game could really have knocked the fight out of a lesser club; I hope we prove that doesn't apply to us in the next 48 hours.

I think it was the Carling Cup game at Arsenal that showed his limitations. He had young lads running around him while he looked a bit dazed with his shit hair flapping about.

I'll take results any way they come at the moment. Performances would improve with confidence - which is a massive issue at the moment. We've lost all self belief. Players and fans.

Disagree Sunny, although he didn't have a great game I thought he covered Carra very well, evidenced by the fact the tricky Etherington rarely got to isolate Carra and run at him. Also he was our most adventurous midfielder and at least tried to make things happen ahead of him unlike Aurelio on the other side of the pitch.
