Spur a thought for Tottenham...

You make good points. Disagree about De Gea being past it and 4 quality players would propel them forward. However there has to be a plan or an idea behind the whole thing.
They need to instill that winning mentality again. Yeah you're right it's gonna take time.

I agree that De Gea has the potential to not been past it. But by signing that extention with a club that will not offer him the chance of CL in some years shows that he accept the comfort of the big money over the hunger for the big titles. And a player in the comfortzone is probably past his 100% best.

That's true, his problem is hunger. The man wants to compete

Keane and Carragher has a similar discussion and i think they were both right. Keane reckoned United are years away from challenging while Carragher thought it’ll only take 3 or 4 signings.

3or 4 signings can make a team and paper over any cracks elsewhere in the side or behind the scenes but there are a lot of problems at that club. It makes me think of Suarez, throw peak Suarez in that United team and they look a different proposition probably.

A lot of Kane hate, he is a good finisher. Being English goes against him. I would take Kane in heartbeat if he was available. He would bag 40 goals in a season here

We went from from good to outstanding with 2 signings; vvd and Alison.

True, but i guess one side of the argument is that United can’t get the likes of those two without scouting / analytics, being an attractive proposition and most importantly owners who’ll fund big transfers. But there’s always a chance they could fluke it or find a manager that’ll pull off a handful of these transfers.

No, he wouldn't. Simply cos he needs to play in a side that sets up for him, at least to some degree, which we would have to change things round a fair bit to do so. Plus his workrate isn't high enough.

He's a quality forward, great natural goalscoring instinct, & he'd score loads at Utd cos they'd set up for him, but we wouldn't & nor should we.

Spurs would want 150 million minimum for him. United are so desperate that they would pay what it takes to get him

They really need to play lucas moura more, offers a mane like ability that neither of the other forwards can

We spent a long time being one or two players away from challenging, quite happy with United being 3 or 4. That's a lifetime away with unless they get really lucky with signings.

Spurs struggling badly, which is lovely to see.

Also, Dier appears to have forgotten how to play football. And that African they signed for 60m, Ndomboleelele or whatever, seems to be quite good technically, but he does seem to physically resemble Lukaku; he's a very generously proportioned lad.

And playing him wide makes him seem even less than svelte than usual.

If he hands in a transfer request we should get him, at the price they paid. Klopp will make a proper man of him.

The toll of last season CL should not be underestimated. Never done that. Not even close. That We did it back to back from similar circunstances is impressive.

Is this a polite and protracted way of calling Ndombele a fat melt?

I honestly think Man U are about 3-4 signings from being really good.
I'd go for a wing forward, defensive mid, central mid and a striker.
If they can get Kane, Savic and I dunno maybe Ndidi and Fernades.
Wouldn't be cheap though.

I think we are deluded when we think Man United are 3-4 signings away or even Chelsea are 3-4 signings away. I think both teams have enough to challenge for a title or a top 4 spot. What sets both us and City apart from those two teams is our respective managers. Do not underestimate how lucky we are to have Klopp - he is what has made us this good above any player in our team, and both United and Chelsea do have quality players who are just not inspired by the current manager or the managers they had previously. I think those two teams can be bought up to standard with what they already have if they had any of Poch, Rafa, or Angeotti as managers. I just hope that those managers never sign up for those teams otherwise we will have a challenge on our side.

Lets not forget under Jose they could have also won a title had it not been for Man City's billion pound squad in Jose's second season. But Jose comes across very strict and I can understand why the younger players at United would not tolerate him after a couple of seasons. Despite that they still won two trophies with Jose as manager and also reached an FA Cup Final. In my opinion they are not 3 to 4 managers away from being challengers more like the right manager away from being challengers. Klopp is the reason we are having these good times right now.

Don't know if the rumours are true but there does seem to be something wrong with them. They're not pressing or working hard and any team that shows some desire against them usually triumphs at the minute. No teams seem to want CL this year. Leicester have a very real shot, IMO.
