So who do we want/expect/hope?

a really good in the know on rwak (I mean 'really' good) has said AVB will be our new manager. for the time I've seen him posting, I'd say he has something like plus 90% hit rate. he gets a riduclous amount right.

So have you been posting just as much on the equivalent threads on other forums as well over the past week? How have you had time to, well, live?

Yeah but what's your percentage of getting ITKs percentage's right? I doubt it's 90.

And those they don't lock have that many people posting in it (usually the hive mind opinion using slightly different words or simply agreeing) that by the time your post appears its lost on the last page.

They also seem to ban those with different opinions to their own & aren't keen on bad language. Needless to say I'm not a fan.

hey, they were right about lucas.

I think Boas will be the man.
In every sense.

Id still love Blanc but his name hasnt been mentioned. I'll be 100% behind Boas when he starts.
Hes been scouting out in Brazil this last fortnight too, so hopefully he brings one or two sexy latin lads with him.

Boas is a huge gamble, we do need to take a huge gamble though.

I think anyone is a gamble now. We need something pretty revolutionary to move forwards now. We need to transform as a club. It's risky though and risk makes people nervous.

but there are gambles and there are 'gambles'. rafa for instance to my mind is less of a gamble than boas and martinez.

How much of a gamble is he vis a vis Rafa though. Rafa is a gamble obviously for the political/divisive issues. Which would you rather gamble on? AVB or Rafa?

at the end rafa was taking it in the neck from all angles and despite that seemed (relatively) in control. AVB on the other hand looked all over the fucking place but I'll excuse him purely because of the circumstances that I just don't see happening at LFC.

We need to get someone who knows what they're doing and give them some money to get a couple of players in.

AVB is a fucking stupid idea.

Everyone except Fergie is a gamble. Hes the only manager in the world who has consistently shown he can perform year in year out to a trophy winning standard.
Whoever we bring in i think its important we temper our expectations. In particular the owners. Its either a long term plan or they need to throw hundreds of millions at it. If its a long term build the Boas is a good fit. But people need to be chilled when we arent top 4 next year.
Let the man work.

Who's he bigger gamble you think Neil?

More inside track from a Portugeezer:

AVB has several problems. First of all, his tactics are NOT that good. In the portuguese league there were many games that were walking to a draw or loss by Porto and out of nowhere they would get a penalty or the other team would get a red card or a freekick or something. That's not to say he is a bad manager, like the worse in the world.

No, he's not that bad. He's just average. At Académica he didn't do anything special and he benefited alot of the work of his predecessor, Jesualdo Ferreira, the team that he had set up and the players he had chosen.

Also, let's not forget, that team had Radamel Falcao, one of the best strikers in the world.

So, if he has all these problems how did he trounce the Portuguese League? Well, he got lucky. Lucky in the sense that Sporting was completely broken from the inside, Benfica thought they would win every single game simply by being there and Braga simply decided to not give a arse.

He's a mediocre manager, he has nowhere near the competence to join a truly superpower of football, at least not yet. I still think he can surprise me, but to be frank, after his display at CFC I can only assume I was right, at least for now.

No we don't. We need to get someone who knows what they're doing and give them some money to get a couple of players in.

depends what your 'idea' actually is. if it is a long term project that is going to restructure the team and give it a footballing identity then it's a gamble but a worthwhile one. if you purely want to back into the CL and fuck everything else, gear everything to the short term and fuck off everything else then AVB isn't a gamble worth making, you're better off going for someone like capello.

That's THE question in my mind at the moment local. I thought truly it was Rafa's time to go. He'd taken us as far as he could and he certainly wasn't getting the best out of the players he had. What niggled me was the constraints he had to work under and also what he may have done without those constraints given his previous years. There was never any sense ever removing him for Hodgson. Then there's the reality that football has moved on from the football that aligns with the "Liverpool Way" and how we're run and operate as a club from top to bottom. There's a dawning reality that we need a new, progressive tactically astute coach (not that Rafa isn't many of those things) and Andre is that type of coach. Note I say coach and not manager.

But I'm split, truly.

So does change, hence the backlash against FSG with the complete overhaul in staff (including Club legends).

I'm hoping we'll look back on this year in the future as the moment when we became a truly modern club amongst the leading pack on and off the field. I've a hunch that in a month's time we'll have some top people working at every level of the club and be a very competitive commercial enterprise (as we need to be). Some concrete news about the stadium plans will be the cherry on top.

I want sustainable success, I want us to rip up what we've done in the past 4 years and pretty much start from scratch.
when you look at the riches of city and chelsea we aren't going to outbid anyone with fees or wages so we have to create our own stars and do it at a far more rapid pace than we've managed in the past 10 years, but that isn't going to happen over night.
that is why I want AVB/de boer/klopp because even though they are young with little experience they can grow and the club grows.
so more of a gamble but it has a view to the long term. I love rafa to pieces, always have always will but what we need now is a clean slate now and a clear vision that we stick to even if it's rough at first.
