Yes but we don't have an u21 team so it kinda defeats the purpose.
But why 21? Its such an arbitrary age when we have players who are good who are that age or above who don't fit into it.
Exactly. £100m pounds later. Benitez had to win the Premiership and was judged a failure , yet all his successors have had to make top 4 or 6 which is seen as progress. We had a quarter of the Spain squad at our club now we have Carroll, Adam and Henderson.
Why? I think I agree - good leader, good smart player and will be hard to replace what he brings.

If we sell half our team we will only exacerbate the mistakes made by Benitez and Dalglish.

It'd be an utterly pointless sale. He's a good squad player, seems happy it sit around on the bench - which is harder and harder to find these days, and can come in and play a role. Plus, his attitude is great. I know he's not a world beater, but your squad needs guys like this.

i think we should have better myself, saying that as he's just backup itd be hard to get someone better who would be willing backup, so ye i probably agree
Talk to me about the times you've seen Jonjo Shelvey play the disciplined, defensive midfield role.
Gerrard or Lucas can do it, Jonjo can play slightly further forward if he does get into the side. Isn't Conor Coady supposed to be pretty decent in reserves?! It is something we're lacking, a top class defensive midfielder. How i'd love a Mascherano, Toure, Song, Tiote, even screech in our side.
Sorry but Coady isn't really that good. He shouldn't be anywhere near the first team imo. I still believe that we need a new defensive midfielder or deep lying midfielder. Allan would be the perfect buy.
Spearing has been awful anytime I've seen him play.
Kuyts attitude was great and he was shipped out.
I really hope we get rid of Spearing.
