So.... United

Is there anyone in here who would have chosen winning tonight over beating Southampton last Saturday?

I don't think anyone is suggesting this is more important than a league game, but it is not just another league cup match.

No but that game is over and we are playing those cnuts so why worry about a game in the past.

This game is here and now and we have a chance to beat UTD at OT (something we don't do nearly enough)

I'd rather win on Sunday than tonight.
I couldnt give a stuff about the league cup.
Thats why I'd rest the players that are carrying knocks today so they'll be fresh and ready on sunday.

But I'm guessing we'll play a very strong side and Gerrard & co will look knackered in the 2nd half on sunday.

Do you think a midweek rest will stop them flagging by the 65th minute? It is either a core fitness issue, or an inability to play Rodgers' system. One extra game won't suddenly stop them from being able to play 90 minutes a couple of times a week.

I'm with Hansern, save whoever we need for Sunday. There's some quality fringe players needing a game anyway.

I think being in the league cup is very important tbh.

Reason being we have a lot of players who need games to help their development but aren't good enough for the league.

Tonight's game, if it were against almost anyone else would have seen many of those play, as will future rounds should we get through.

Despite me hating it, I think the eufa cup (or whatever the fuck it's called now) would have been ideal this season in that respect.

Sunday's game will have virtually no bearing on our final league position. But tonight's game is a chance to pile pressure on one of our league rivals and potentially wipe them out of the equation for a top four spot. That outcome is worth far more to us than 3 points which we may not even lose on the weekend. People who pass up an opportunity to sabotage one of their opponent's chances in a competition are generally known as losers.

Any ideas about the team?

Mignolet
Wisdom Toure Agger Enrique
Henderson Lucas Gerrard
Moses Sturridge Suarez

Realistically any of these could be in the side too: Sakho, Aspas, Sterling, Ibe, Alberto

Love to see McLaughlin get a go, it'd be the making of him

It would actually be great to see a v strong team given the message from BR that a couple of them will be subbed at half time (e.g. Studge, Stevie) but really go for the jugular and get Studge, Suarez, Moses, Gerrard all working together.

We're not in europe so we need to field the strongest team we can in all 3 competitions. If these elite athletes can't manage a game on Wednesday the Sunday they need shooting and giving some of us a go.
This is one of two cups we could realistically win so we should do everything to get through, playing our strongest team. That said, when we're 4-0 up at half time, I'd probably rest Suarez and Sturridge for the 2nd half.

Considering we're only in three competitions, we should be taking it seriously, rest Sturridge and Agger etc, but still field a strong team, simple.

Don't give a monkeys about the league cup, and I don't see why Rodgers should either given that our last manager got sacked despite winning it. Risking injurys by playing your full team just because it is United is also utterly stupid, as United fans would get more joy out of our best player being injured than they would in actually winning the cup. Play Suarez (despite being our best player, he needs game time) and some of the fringe players

It doesn't matter what competition it is, this is the Mancs.

Not that it matters coz it ain't how it works, but I would defo rather win tonight than us have beaten Southampton on Saturday. I would defo risk injuring a couple of players to beat these cunts tonight.

Definitely not.. but they are obviously not exclusive.. Losing to Southampton was a big blow. I think if we'd have won that there would be a bigger case for resting some of the stars.

100% agree. And the fact that it will make their project very unstable makes the win even more important.

Anyone know if the game is shown in Singapore?

@PeterPhillips_: #LFC rumoured team: Mignolet; Toure, Skrtel, Sakho, Enrique; Lucas, Gerrard; Henderson, Suarez, Moses; Sturridge

Thats a very strong team. Fuck my earlier post. Lets twat these Manc cunts!!
