So suarez transfer request tomorrow then?

Brendan Rodgers has said Liverpool are prepared for a Real Madrid bid for Luis Suarez but has reiterated John W Henry’s claim that the striker will not be sold.

Liverpool’s principal owner stated a fortnight ago that the club would not entertain any offers from Arsenal or a European team for the Uruguay international and none have been received since.

But with Arsenal switching their focus from Suarez to Real’s Karim Benzema, and the Spanish club holding a long-standing interest in the Liverpool striker, Rodgers is anticipating a belated approach from Real, who are also close to agreeing a world record €99 million deal for Tottenham’s Gareth Bale.

Real have always been Suarez’s preferred destination and relations with Rodgers were strained when he accused the Liverpool manager of breaking promises over his future in a Guardian interview.

But having missed out on a major summer signing for the third time this week, and confirming that Liverpool’s pursuit of Willian collapsed for financial reasons, Rodgers says the club cannot accept any late moves for Suarez.

Asked if he expected Real to formalise their interest with an offer before the transfer window deadline of 2 September, the Liverpool manager said: “I’m sure there will be plenty of activity in these last number of days. It is what it is and we will deal with it like we have during the summer.

“It’s very difficult at this time (for a Suarez bid to succeed). We are trying to get one or two more quality players in through the door.

“If we lose Luis at this stage it would be difficult to replace him. There might have been a point a few months ago where there was time to do it but with 11 days to go it would be difficult to replace him.”

Arsene Wenger said his pursuit of the Liverpool striker had ended following Arsenal’s win over Fenerbahce in the Champions League play-off on Wednesday. With the club’s move for Manchester United’s Wayne Rooney also looking impossible, he has turned his attention back towards Benzema.

Benzema, though, is a favourite of the Real president Florentino Perez and it is unclear whether he would fancy a move to Arsenal.

Apparently Willian isnt moving to Chelsea... He only went there to ask David Luiz which products he uses on his hair

January would be the best time to sell him now. Obviously June 1st would have been great but we will get bare notes in January on account of him not being cup tied in Europe.

That's a season written off then cause we'll not manage to get a replacement in January.

From the Mirror:

Liverpool are bracing themselves for Real Madrid to make a raid for Luis Suarez.
But the weary Anfield giants have again insisted they will not sell the striker.

Arsenal want Real forward Karim Benzema, and the £40million the Spanish giants would expect to receive for him will be used to fund a move for Suarez - a player they have long coveted.

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers said: “I’m sure there will be plenty of activity in these last number of days [of the transfer window]. It is what it is, we will deal with it like we have during the summer.”

Rodgers though, remains adamant that there simply isn’t enough time left for the Reds to secure a replacement for Suarez, so he cannot even consider allowing the Uruguayan to leave... despite the player’s desire to go.

If Real do make their long-anticipated bid, then there is no doubt Suarez will agitate strongly to go - and do everything in his powers to force Liverpool to sell him to a club he says he’s always dreamed of joining.

Even when seeming to accept owner John Henry’s decision he would not be sold to Arsenal, the 26-year-old swiftly issued a thinly veiled come and get me plea to Real.

Henry though, has stated bluntly that even if the Bernabeu side do come calling with a massive offer for Suarez, he will not accept... because there isn’t time to find a replacement of equal quality.

Rodgers backed up that statement on Thursday, when he argued that Real would now be wasting their time if they think they can make a deadline-dodging last-gasp move.

“If we lose Luis at this stage... there might have been a point a few months ago where there was time to do it, but with 11 days to go it would be difficult to replace him,” he said bluntly.
Liverpool are insistent there have been NO bids for Suarez since Arsenal's notorious offer of £40m plus one pound was rejected out of hand.

Asked directly if there had been any bids from any other clubs since Henry stated, unequivocally, a fortnight ago the striker would not be sold at any price, even to Real, Rodgers had a blunt answer: "No. None."

The club's position remains firm, and sources close to the American owners reiterated on Thursday night that even if Suarez attempts to force a move to Real, or any other club, he will be told there can be no deal in this transfer window.

A bid is definitely coming in and he'll go.

It's so shit and inevitable. Then we won't sign anyone decent in replacement.

This scouting team need to pull some fucking Hail Marys out of their arses.

Henry just needs to realise that no one will tolerate another post-window letter to the fans again. Last year Rodgers was told to sell players and was left without replacements. He's done the same this time but he is still a couple of players short. They have to back him, but I still think they will.

They may back him but what players will we get in? We've not signed any primary targets.

The Willian deal was out of nowhere and can't have been in the works.

We've sold Downing and not replaced with anything, nevermind an improvement.

We (also assuming we indirectly or directly steer the media reports) keep saying it's due to lack of time to get a replacement.
It could be there's someone at real who Rodgers wants & we're using the no time for a replacement line to to push them.

Unlikely I admit, but a possibility.

unless suarez refuses to play ill be majorly pissed off, i really like fsg but if they wen back on their word id be worried

No one at Madrid will come to us mate.

If Real are going to be selling Benzema to Arsenal, and then buying Suarez with the cash, I would rather they directly gave us Benzema plus some extra cash. Keeps Arsenal out in the cold, and we secure a player of some real quality with minimal effort.

Ideally we hold on to Suarez though, and if the Benzema move to Arsenal gains any traction, we put in a superior bid. If we want to have any real chance at making the top four, we have to do everything in our power to keep Arsenal from dramatically improving in the next week or so.

If we've buried our heads in the sand all summer long and haven't planned for the scenario then we haven't got time.

The reality is we probably go have some semblance of a plan in place, we just need a bid of x for it to kick into gear.

I genuinely believe the Armenian lad, Willian etc were deals we were lining up should we sell Suarez and we can't pull the trigger until we do.
We haven't had a bid accepted by anybody yet, and I think it's because we can't bid without selling Luis

That's what I've thought all along. Rodgers comments about selling before we can buy hint strongly at it too.

The club have played a blinder in making it look like it's not the case though, which is good news in terms of tranfer fee at least.

Having said that though, it still doesn't answer why the fuck we don't have cash to spend.

We should have 20m to spend each summer based on our incomes, & the TV rights money is huge this season.

So where the fuck is it?

Our January spend maybe?

Nobody is going to pay 40 mil for Benzema peeps. Even Wenger isn't in that much of a flap.

You have to ignore our losses for the past decade to believe that.

The only reason we've spent the way we have under FSG is because they put 47m into the club. Which is more than FFP allows over three years.

So we're hamstrung. (I fully expect this to be proven wrong when we sign player x for 40m in the next week and hang onto Suarez)

But why the fuck would you bother lining all these players up if nobody (bar arsenal) is bidding for Suarez ? Other clubs were in for those players, how did we think we could set up deals and then wait ?

Owen, McManaman and now seemingly Suarez.

And they gave us Nunez just to really rub it in
Owen - wasn't really great for them.
McManaman - went for money and didn't play without a contract for a season? Scored a great goal for them, but he scored great goal for us.
Suarez - has he gone yet? Has there been a bid? If he goes, would it be for free like Owen and McManaman?

Seems like all worry based on rumours and conjecture with no facts at the moment.

I was thinking like, we arent far off having a fuck load of options.
Lets say (for the sake of argument) we pick up 2 x 15m players. Lets say (for the sake of argument) those players are I dunno, Dzagoev and Pjanic we all would pretty much agree they are cracking players right? If you dont replace Pjanic for Munain or Griezmann or whomever.
Point is with those TWO players and that investment (our saved wages plus 15m kitty) we would have a midfield and forward line to dream of.
Henderson
Dzagoev
Lucas
Allen
Gerrard

Coutinho
Alberto
Aspas
Pjanic
Suarez
Sturridge
Borini

Thats pretty fucking baddass isnt it?
We can really do something special this season, but we need one more push.

On the flip side.
Manchester City
Chelsea
Spurs
Swansea
Villa
Southampton
West Ham
Norwich
Cardiff
Palace
Sunderland
West Brom
Etc
Have all spent more than us this summer.
