Only because Rafa has faith in one and not the other.

And he's hardly right all the time, is he.
Which players has he sold that he should of kept?
He should *have* kept Bellamy, Riise, Alonso and Warnock, given the succession of fucking useless spazmos that have taken their place in the squad.

Keeping with the criteria, Crouch and Sissoko can be also be added.

Lol.

Inusa has been average, but clearly better than Riise was on his last season for us.

He cost us the semi final spot, had a season where he had 100 shots on goal with 0 goal to his name. He was woeful.

Bollocks.

Insua has been a fucking car-crash this season

replacing lucas isn't going to help. the rest of our team including gerrard and torres are playing along and falling into the habit of a lucas infected team. even if alonso came back tomorrow, the team right now would not be able to make the runs and movements that could exploit his passing.

lucas is like a cancer. its infected everyone. the team is shit. not just lucas. the entire fucking team. pretty soon johnson will start to fail. aquilani too. thats the way i see things
So, Lucas = cancer?
yes. in the centre of midfield he regularly receives and gives passes to and from every player in the team except reina. if those passes are wrong, stupid, shit, delayed, backwards, naive etc etc, it starts to affect everyone else and drags them down. the movement goes to shit, nobody makes runs or expects to be played through. they just wait instead. waiting. for lucas. to get hit in the neck with a blow dart.

Riise had a poor season for us but who's to say he wouldn't have rebounded. People were looking for Alonso out two seasons ago, too. Now he's what we're missing. We're missing a quality (healthy) left back now too.

------------

Bellamy should have stayed. Craig was and remains one of my fave players. I'd be very happy for his success at City if it wasn't likely to eventually come at our expense.

I liked Riise and remember having to repeatedly defend him on here in the last year or so - there were a lot of haters towards the end. That said, I don't think it was a bad decision to sell him... it's just that we badly fucked up on his replacement.

insua has been fucking DOG SHIT but plays each and every game, babel is a lost cause but you wonder what may have happened if rafa had shown that kind of faith in him. again, I can't stand insua. if it were a straight choice of who to bin out of insua and lucas it's no contest as far as I'm concerned.

I remember badly wanting rid of riise (towards the end as he was quite good when he joined) and warnock well, careful what you wish for.

I'm serious as a dancer when I say Lucas is a cancer.

I know.

simply, rafa allows some players to play despite form and others he hooks regardless. that's life and the players have to deal with it.

LOL

But it must be a genuine concern by now that is Lucas really just going to drop to the bench when Aquilani is fully match fit? Like he played 25 league games last season even when Alonso was still around. I feel everyones pain on this but from those stats and how much Rafa seems to rate him i cant see him being relegated to the bench so easy!

im guessing aquilani will rotate with mascherano, depending upon whether we are looking to draw the game or whether we're happy to lose it

lucas will remain a fixture in midfield, until he's hit in the neck with a blow dart

Dantes, I admittedly vacillate between finding your 'nutbag psycho' schtick really fucking tedious, and really amusing, but you are *rocking* this thread

The only reason why people has defended Lucas so bravely, is because of the insane and often daft ammount of blame beeing placed on his shoulders alone.

He's an average player who is better than his reputation but not anywhere near good enough to be a certain starter in a Liverpool team at this day and age.

I wouldn't mind him as a squadie mind. He's still young and learning the trade and as such he's had far to much responsibilty placed upon him this Season beacuse of the chronically out-of-form Gerrard and slowly learning/starting Aquilani.

everyone dives all over lucas but a lot of the time masherano looks just as clueless.
masherano soaked up a lot of the praise in the alonso/masher combo but I think its patently obvious who was the driving force there.
Anyone at all?

Last call for the Lucarse Bandwagon!
??Right where to begin? It has been apparent all season that lucas and masher are incorrect choices together in this fucking formation. We already knew we needed someone who can actually play an intelligent pass in there thats why we had Alonso!? So we come back to the Aquaman debate. He is obviously made of glass and can't play that position. I agree that a 4141 looks like the only option to us right now to get us out of this turgid style of play. Lets try to get some confidence back by at least having a go at teams again, if it fails at least we tried??I think what it boils down to is Rafa's lack ability to instill belief and confidence in the attacking sense. Basically we are fucked if we dont change.

We're not in melt down situation, even if we miss out of CL football.

By no means is it good enough and it will hurt us - sure, but we're strong enough as a club, and have talented enough players, to bounce back back with a bang. Last season wasn't a complete fluke.

Let's play "Midfield Jeopardy"!

Answer:

Fabregas, Lampard, Gerrard, Milner, Diaby, Bowyer, Ballack, Petrov, Barry, Ramsay, Denilson, Cahill, Fletcher, Huddlestone, Ireland, Feillani, Noble, Palacios, Ferguson, Carrick, Murphy, Whitehead, Osman, Brown, Parker, Song, O'Hara, de Jong, Jenas, Bullard, Sidwell, Thomas, Masher, Aquilani, Rodwell, Mikel, Cattermole, Cana, Reo-Coker, Reid, Merida.

Is it:

"Name some central midfield players in the Premiership better than Lucas?"

Correct.

To be fair, Lucas isn't the worst player in our side (see Insua) and I wouldn't mind him so much if he didn't play at the heart of our team. He's good enough to be drafted in for Mascher for the 5-6 games our Argie gets suspended each year. Also good enough to add some legs in games we're winning. Should be getting about 30 games max (in all comps with most of the games being sub appearances).

Yep. He's nowhere near good enough.

And have I ever got one of these wrong? Nope.

You admitted you were wrong about Aurelio. I think you were being a tad bit harsh on yourself.

And you were wrong about Casper. He's not nearly as bad as you made him out to be.
