Slot-ball

The problems in our pattern of play, to me at least, were all illustrated in that first half v Brighton, & it's not going to happen every game.....because not every team will play how Brighton did. Brighton gave us a much tougher game than Forest did. Forest got it tactically spot on with their organisation, nullified us and waited for that 1 moment to pounce - but in truth they never looked like a better team, Brighton just looked like a far better side all over the pitch to us.

Trent is a massive problem in this set up and has been for 2 years, whether people like to admit it or not. I have no idea what the fuck is up with Mac but this isn't the player we saw between November and March.....he's not put in a stand out performance once this season. Szobo is incredibly important to the style Arne wants to implement....high energy is the #1 trait he looks for in his players and Szobo runs about that pitch for days and covers the most ground, but how the fuck do we make him better on the ball because it's fucking championship level stuff, basic fucking passes.....can't make them, & the constantly niggly fouls drives me up the wall.

We're gonna see a performance from a proper #10 tomorrow alright......but I somehow don't see it being from Szobo, sadly.

Szob is fucking shite

Jones is twice the player. Just sell the cunt and try to get the money back before the rest of Europe realises he's gone to shit.
I agree, but at the very least the cunt runs about.

Jones still holds on to the ball too much so I'm wary of him at the 10. I'd rather play Mac back in to form in that position

At least until Elliots back

Curtis won us the Chelsea and the Brighton game. Yeah he's got his faults but that's what he did.

Szob has done fuck all but run round like a nobhead.
he doesn’t even look that good doing it these days, the new look hair is shit too

That running improves the team though, it's noticeable when he's off, and like Modo I still believe, although he really needs to start showing it now. I think the fact he looks like a 28 year old addonis in him prime makes us forget he's still a kid, just three months older than Curtis. I agree about Curtis though, but it's in place of Mac for me, who's been awol since the international break, maybe even earlier.

I think Mac needs a good rest. If we can use him as a sub as and when needed in a run of games I think it would benefit him and ultimately us.

It is also clear that we do need another body in midfield. We tried to sign two before last season, and we tried for Zubi this season, but I think we now need to act in January come hell or high water.

maybe we hire a wet nurse and get some calcium in those chiesa bones while we’re at it

I must say, I like what Arnie and his team are doing on the coaching side of things at Liverpool.

Not sure if it's just a "new manager bounce", but many players of the players seem to be showing improvement in some technical/mental areas, this season.

Namely:

1) TAA defensively. His 1 v 1s look much better. He's more aggressive, runs back more, is getting lower in his stance, balance has improved, his recovery tackles. Seems to be taking it much more seriously and his positional awareness seems much better too. Ironically, on the ball is where he's been inconsistent.

2) Gravy - all round. His confidence, his defensive awareness, his running with ball, his decision making, his tackling.

3) Kostas - aggression, tackling, delivery, and concentration all improved.

4) Jones - releasing the ball a second earlier even if he does like to hog it a bit still, and his decision making is getting better too.

5) Darwin - his first touch, workrate, hold up play, link up play and running with the ball has all improved. Decision making has slightly improved though still a massive area of improvement.

6) Diaz - confidence, end product, directness and link up play.

7) Gakpo - confidence, directness, dribbling and defensive workrate.

There's also been minor improvements in areas with VVD (his line breaking passes, and stepping out to defend), Szobo (first touch isn't as horrendous), Gomez (looked back to his best at the weekend, although it was only 1 half) and Salah (defensive workrate).

Players who seem to have struggled/stagnated are Robbo, Endo and Quansah.

One thing that

Absolutely, but players improved under Klopp as well.

I agree. The likes of Bradley and Quansah looked good last year. And we all know what he did with VVD, Mo, Sadio, Hendo, Robbo, Fab, Gini etc.

It's just the new group of players Jurgen bought have continued their improvement and some have taken a big leap forward this year (early days, i know); in specific areas of their game.

The only one from that list he has improved is Gravy and Nunez to engage his brain, all the others you have listed plus what you think he has improved is not actual improvement - it's his setup and style of play that has bought out talent which they already had. Klopp and his Assistant's methods never allowed for the best qualities of those other players to shine:

1) TAA was never a bad defender 1 v 1 - he became bad in the last 2 seasons because of the excessive running he would have to do as Henderson waned. Now he is told defence first and attack if secure - that works.

2) Gakpo - we already know he never understood what Klopp was telling him and virtually drained him of his best abilities which is to play as a left winger. We also saw a different Gakpo in the Euro's and that is the Gakpo we are seeing in our team now.

3) Kostas - half this site is mad when they speak bad on him, every time he has had a consistent run even under Klopp he was as good as he was tonight. He has the odd bad game and guess when that is ? - it's always his first fill in game because Robbo is either rested or injured.

4) Diaz - proved he was a good finisher previously - but the way we play - slower build up not chaotic chances coming out of mad pressing / counter-attacking. Today was the real him - which we liked when when he lifted the whole squad the day he played his first game for us. Last season under Klopp was his first ever full season with us by the way.

That said - last season the team played very well under Klopp - BUT for bad fucked up finishing we failed to win the title. Klopp trained a team last season that was title winning material but bad finishing was the issue that let us down, not injuries or anything else it was plain and simple bad fucked up finishing in those last 3 months.
