So, how much more time do we give it before we send him off to the abattoir?

He is shit, and the idea of him stepping up into the withdrawn forward role is a bad one.

He was ace in pre-season. I have no idea why Klopp felt the need to play him in a totally alien position. It really was a weird (& unnecessary?) decision.

At the moment I'd just hold him back in case we need an AM ... or we receive an acceptable offer (a bag of maple syrup covered almonds will do nicely).

He had a horrible game, but he’s way better than that. There’s been no rumors that he’s off somewhere so he’ll likely be staying. I’m sure he’ll turn in some better performances, but hopefully by being played more advanced. Looked completely lost playing deep.

I've never been a big fan, and even in his better periods with us, I wasn't bowled over. I wouldn't have signed him in the first place, and I'd definitely get rid now.

He's out of contract in 2023. Definitely wouldn't be giving him an extension. With only 1 year left on his deal, doubt we get a huge fees either next summer.

That said, he is English and there'll definitely be takers for like 15 million I think.

What weird position? Centre mid? It's where he had his best performances for us. Pre season he was great, but more advanced

He was just shit yesterday. Scared to make a pass, scared to put a tackle in. I get he's had a long injury so hes reluctant to go full pelt, but that's not going to work in our team

Considering we're getting no new players, I would be resistant in selling him unless we were getting someone else

Given the shortage of homegrown players in our squad, I don't think he is going anywhere this summer or the next.

What “totally alien position”? RCM is where he played for most of his LFC career, including the pre-injury period when he was good. Made he made it look alien, but it shouldn’t have been.

He spent most of the match floating around the centre of the pitch .. even dropping deep. That alien position.

We aren't in a position to be getting rid of midfielders, and he's a great squad option. That said, he shouldn't be starting, and I imagine he won't once Thiago and Hendo are back up to full fitness.

I wouldn't want rid unless a replacement was nigh on guaranteed

However I do not want him starting a game anytime soon, unless we're in the depths of injury crisis

Fab, Thiago, hendo, keita, Millie, Jones, Elliott, maybe even taki, should be ahead of him.

Id much rather him as a false 9. And even then that's a bit shite

Like you say how long has he been here now, he’s just not very good..even when he’s fit and plays he shows no consistency.

He’s the complete opposite of a great squad option.

Great squad options are ready and able to contribute when called upon. Not semi-permanently injured and seemingly unable to fill in in any role... or requiring a 10 game run to get going.

He's definitely able to do the job in the cup competitions, and able to come off the bench and offer something different, thats a good squad option for me. Sure he's not good enough to be a made replacement for Thiago, and shouldn't be starting as I said, but don't kid yourself, players of that quality don't sit on the bench unless you can throw the bank at them.

Ok, this is a bit uncharacteristic of me, but I feel like I should give Ox a chance. I mean it's his first game being fully fit with a good pre season. I just saw a replay of it and he looked so dejected when he was subbed. He knew he had a bad game.
However, Ox is only going to learn to play in that position by actually playing in that position and he isn't going to get too many opportunities to do that at LFC.
Maybe he himself needs to realise this.

I'm running low on patience but his pre-season performance restored some faith in his ability.

I can't explain his anonymous performance yesterday. He just didn't know where to be on the pitch. Both him and Naby were poor at progressing the ball and linking up, especially so on the first half.

He has talent. But has to show it week in week out. Naby the same. Plenty of skill and talent, but has to stay fit and consistent

There has been only the most desperate page fillers for Ox to West Ham. Regardless of whether you want him in the squad or not his contract situation seems to dictate hel'l be here for another 12 months

I feel like he might play well enough at some stage to generate a few i told you so’s but i just can’t see him sustaining it without injury. I’d like to be wrong but at this stage it feels like he’s a known quantity.
