Skrtel bust up?

I mentioned this the other day in one of the post-Arsenal threads, but didn't really get the chance to post properly. Has anyone else heard about this? He's supposed to have had a bust up with Rodgers?

Reference was made to this in "The Times" a few days ago, albeit in fairly vague terms. I wondered about it when Suarez got the armband ahead of Skrtel (who's had it before) for the Oldham game.

BR wasn't happy with his performance against Oldham and other teams it's being reportedly .

Hopefully it's just a case of having a rocket up his arse, like hendo and downing and his performances may improve.

Appaz Rodgers left him out of his top 3 as MOTM in the Oldham game and things kicked off from there.

*sprints out of thread*

They've had a few arguments. I don't think they've had a bust-up as such, Rodgers has just made it clear on several occasions he's not been satisfied with Skrtel's performances and Skrtel's resented it, hence the reports of a 'deteriorated' relationship. I'm sure it's not beyond repair.

Tough luck. He's 28, a international footballer and paid a gazillion. If he cant handle the manager telling him off after some shite performances he can move on.

Well Skrtel will probably argue, with a degree of justification, that the back four is not defending well as a unit so it's unfair to lay all the blame on him. Rodgers will obviously have good reason, on the other hand, to criticise his individual errors, lack of leadership and dubious attitude in certain games, so it doesn't seem that unusual that this tension between them has developed. It's up to Skrtel to prove the manager wrong.

What shite performances? Has he been individually worse than Agger, Carragher, Coates or anyone else? Has he fuck, the defense as a unit has been all over the place all season.

Yup

I reckon Skrtel might have taken exception to it though, but the others might have took it in their stride.

Thought he was poor against Utd and very poor against Oldham.
Only Coates played against Oldham aswell and he was very poor.

Carra and Agger were very good against Norwich and good against Arsenal. I can see why Carra-Agger starts tomorrow.

And the all over the place all season comment I really dont get, what about the 14 other teams in the league that have conceded more than us? And 1 team have more clean sheets than us, 1!
We've been shite in some games but very good in others.

I don't think he's been worse than the rest but those stupid fouls he gives away around our box have me considering posting one of these to his house

Skrtel was nowhere near our worst defender in the Oldham match but Rodgers did also have a pop at the 'youngsters' so I'd imagine that included Coates and Robinson. He'll be off in the summer.

Maybe Skrtel only wants what is best for Liverpool and have told Rodgers that the system is not working properly. Somehow I dont think Rodgers is the man who likes to be told that kind of truth.

No top-level manager is. The best ones, though, will go away and reflect on what they've been told and, if they're convinced, will change things - Ferguson for example has always been willing to learn from his football mistakes (as opposed to personal ones - the guy's a cnut and always will be). Hopefully that's how Rodgers will respond to disagreement.

Well, we are crazy naive when it comes to parts of our play. It is a good idea to solve it together with the players. So far Rodgers medicin aint helping much.

I'd go out on a limb here and say thats very unlikely.
If they've discussed anything its bound to be the vocal issue.

What are you basing that on? Because everyone knows they've needed some bite in midfield for years and he still hasn't resolved that problem. I've always seen the best managers are normally the most stubborn. Doesn't matter what anyone tells them because they feel they know best. Mourinho. Guardiola. Fergiescum, wenger, rafa all have their set ways and styles.

Nobody's saying they don't, but some are better than others at changing what's not working and Ferguson's one of them (regrettably neither GH nor Rafa are, and we've suffered for it). Witness for example Ferguson's attempt some years back to get Scholes to play as a second striker, not a bad idea in itself (Scholes definitely had the skill set for that role and it might have meant fewer of those homicidal tackles he always made) but Scholes couldn't - or probably wouldn't - make a success of it, so Ferguson dropped the idea pretty quickly. He's also been quicker than most to drop big signings when they didn't work out (Veron for example). Top managers need a shedload of willpower for sure, but they also need to know when to change tack.

I would say that rodgers is also good in that respect. Look at his treatment of hendo, sahin, shelvey, sterling, downing, enrique, allen, carra and now skrtel.
