I went in Zakopane (Poland) the weekend before last. It was my first time skking and I fucking loved it. I would recommend it to everybody, young and old, and you could go to a worse place. It's cheap as fuck, near Krakow (if you fancied seeing Krakow for a few days) and has a small slope for beginners/intermediates and a huge slope for experts.
