Should Xabi leave - what do we do?

I rate Frings highly.

He had a superb world cup, anchoring a very attacking German midfield. He's a bit old now though.

Frings will be 33 in November - so yeah, you may be right. It's very late to change countries and leagues. I wouldn't mind signing a short-term solution though. Better that than signing a 21-year-old who'll take two or three years to reach the level we need.

Lucho is the only man and if we did it could improve us as he tends to get forward more than Alonso would and I think would score more. the more I think about it the more sense it makes

if not, forget it and keep Alonso for another year.

30 goals in 109 games! Fucking hell, even bearing in mind the quality of the Portuguese league, that's an insanely high figure for a CM. Does he take their penalties?

Okay okay..

Just putting it out there..

I think.. errr.. err.... How do I say this..

Now...

That young West Ham midfielder.. No.. Not Noble.. The Welsh one, Jack Collison, I reckon is a superb talent.

I think he could fill Alonso's role very well..

What about Cambiasso? Or is he too defensively-minded?
He's more of a sitter, surely.

Right. So not a dynamic, box-to-box midfielder like Xa...

Oh, hang on.

Er, you sure you wanna do this with me B-man?

Cambiasso hasn't got the passing range or ability to retain possesion of the ball and dictate the pace of play the way Alonso does. Not even on his best day!

I didn't say he did. In fact, if you read back, I think you'll find I said no one did. But 'a sitter' is exactly what Xabi is, in terms of positioning.

Noble is a neat and tidy little player. I thought Collison was more of a wide player?

Anyways if you want a young english lad who will be better than both of them we need to be shopping at Everton and signing Rodwell.

Cambiasso, although a fine player, is just too limited regardless of positioning.

We need someone much more dynamic.

Isn't he a center back?

I think thats where he will end up later on in his career but hes a very good passer of the ball and centre midfield is where he should start out and get some games.

He has a rottie..

Not so simple now, is it?

Pirlo can. He out-Xabi's Xabi.

Lucho is a good shout but he's rumoured to be off to Marseilles for £14.5 million.
That'd soon change if we show an interest.

Marseilles or Liverpool, tough choice that.

Javi Martinez is more "dynamic" than Alonso. That doesn't mean he's better than him. All this talk all summer about the need for us to be "dynamic" is annoying.
Does that mean Marseille are selling Cana then? Hmm.
He's waiting for a new contract and pay rise from Marseille, thats his first priority.
But his agent said he will listen to offers from other clubs.

What does 'dynamic' actually mean when talking about footballers?
