LIVERPOOL have seen off a last-ditch attempt by Atletico Madrid to land Sebastian Coates.

The Spanish outfit tried to hijack the Nacional centre-back’s proposed £7million move to Anfield by submitting an offer of around £8million.

However, Coates informed his Uruguayan club he had no interest in speaking to Atletico as his heart was set on signing for the Reds.

Despite the size of Atletico’s offer, Nacional have agreed to respect the defender’s wishes and he underwent a medical in Liverpool yesterday.

SC:For starters...yes...but you always must be focused and keep improving yourself n a bit of luck is always important... But well? the most important thing is that you must work very hard and resign a lot of things in life to give yourself full to the sport.
