Scottish left-backs

So apparently now our main target for the LB spot is Hull's Andrew Robertson and another one being mentioned is Celtic's Kieran Tierney. Can anyone who watched them last season compare the two and give us idea of their respective strengths and weaknesses? It does look like Klopp is prioritizing investment in other positions this summer and whoever we buy for the LB spot will be no more than a understudy for Milner. So with that in mind, which one of the Scottish left-backs would you choose?

Hull supporters aren't exactly worried about losing Robertson. They say he's as prone to a mistake as Moreno. I think Tierney is the real deal.

Tierney. No doubt. He's going to be class - already is in fact. Tons of energy (he is only 20), aggressive, very pacey, excellent passing and especially crossing. Was very impressive against England too if anyone remembers that match.

Just checked and he had 12 assists last season (he does play for Celtic though) ! He had two assists when Celtic played City. Another snippet : he was included in the Marca’s starting 11 for the best young players in Europe when he was 18.

Have read a lot of promising snippets about Tierney during last season. I really don't know a lot about Robertson other than the highlights of that Scotland vs France game where he was torn a new one.

Yeah, definitely Tierney. He's been impressive the few times I've watched Celtic.
The question is if he'll be ready to move now though.

A Celtic fan I know thinks he's the real deal and is resigned to him leaving this summer. He's too good for them.

Tierney would seem to be the obvious target if we're after a young homegrown player with big potential.

Given negotiating with Celtic would seem relatively straightforward it seems strange there's been no movement on this, unless he's not a target after all.

Yep. The best gauge of a player is his current club's fans. Seville fans couldn't believe what we paid for Moreno and if what you're saying about Hull fans is correct, then we'd be best steering clear of Robertson.

We should use Celtic as a 'feeder club' ...
This would give our best young players a tough league physically, and hopefully, European games too ...
Then we should get 'favorable' fees if they unearth any gems etc

I am all for Tierney, Dembele et all from Celtic but we prob have to take into consideration that their greatest rivals in Rangers have just been knocked out of Europe by a team from Luxembourg..

The two British left backs, Cresswell and Robertson, who are widely touted as "destined for greater things" are no better than Moreno.

Tierney looks hugely talented and, unlike the 2 players mentioned above, he can actually defend and doesn't shirk a challenge.

Celtic are already Southampton's bitch (Forster, Wanyama, Van Dijk)...

I dont think Scottish players count as home grown.

A bid of £20m should see this over the line.

I am a little wary given the potential Wilson had before he came here.

I have loads of massive Celtic fans as mates and they really rate Tierney.

I read an article that Celtic's youth academy has the highest number of players that have gone on to have a professional career.

We should be all over their young talent.

I'd take Tierney and Dembele in a heartbeat.

Is that really true though? Granted I've not watched him nearly as much as Hull fans, but from what I've seen he seemed like quite a diligent fellow, not the brainless type.

Dunno, this is from Hull forums. That's what they say. They couldn't care less really.

He was born in England though (IoM), That make a difference ?

Looks pretty good; his style actually reminds me of Milner (but left-footed, of course). Just needs to be careful not to get caught on the ball in his own half; it was too close for comfort a couple of times.

Little to impress in that video. In fact quite the opposite - his crossing was abysmal from 5-6 attempts. He would be behind Milner for sure.

I checked a Hull forum last night and they're by no means worried in the slightest by his departure and they seem to agree he's going to get found out very quickly if he goes to a good club.

Sounds like someone we will sign for sure.

This worries me. This transfer is a bit meh, as I've said before as well.

Surley we can do better.

Here's a video of Tierney vs England in the 2-2- draw (played with a broken jaw) where he actually started at RB to accommodate Robertson in the team as well, and also highlights for Celtic (the first 2 mins should sell you on him) !

The Daily Telegraph described him as 'Scotland's best defender 7/10. He did not play in Scotland's 3-0 loss at Wembley.

Much more like it SVP. At just 20 yrs old there is huge promise. Since Sessegnon's not possible then please let's get this guy.
