Thursday now apparently.

Perhaps Roy forgot that had a squash court booked for today and therefore postponed the announcement.

I think afternoon tea would be much more likely.

This is taken from the comments to a report that some rich sheik is taking us over. Personally I reckon it is a Manc or more likely Bitter taking the piss by trying to raise our hopes. Pity

He is going to own liverpool,i travel to the arab states alot and can confirm he is on the verge of taking over liverpool,he is the right man will put alot of money in for players and build the new stadium,he will be unveiled at anfield in the second week of july,he has earmarked the man he wants to take charge and it isnt hodgson, deschamps or rickjard, the man he wants he has just managed a national team in africa and wont be unveiled till the world cup is over, let me tell you he is a big fan of south american football, that is a clue.Liverpool will attract some of the most talented players in the world both with the owner and the managers contacts.i dont support liverpool but from my knowledge very soon they will be untouchable.

It was posted by a bitter on one of their boards apparently. We're not going to be taken over any time soon in my opinion.

It never ceases to amaze me what a gulible lot, myself included, we football fans are. I guess the fact that the vast majority of us believed Tom and George when they took us over should be proof enough 🙁

I didn't totally, mate. I've got to admit I wavered when things were going well and their public statements seemed to suggest they "got it" as far as this club is concerned, but I was doubtful from the beginning about Gorgeous George being a one-time bankrupt and about Hillbilly Hicks riding in at the last minute.

I think most would be ok with G&H, had the bottom not fallen out of the market.

They would have been able to secure the loans for the stadium building that their business plan was oriented towards. They would have still had a debt burden that would have concerned many, but it would have been a productive one.

And all that travelling would explain the tan.

Thanks Peatcheo, I want to believe it but I don't. I don't think we'll be getting sold for a while yet.

I know there was speculation that assets would be stripped but I can't believe we've stooped so low that we're even selling the club rumour.

Sack the marketing manager! This rumour is so downmarket. To generate positive cash flow, the rumour should have included sex, drugs and royalty. Preferably all three.

I've read that its the elder brother of the Shiekh who owns Man City and is richer.

Fuck all that I'm for fan ownership.

Ha.

Took me ages to get it, Gene, but I laughed in the end.

Typo didn't help.

Asian sex, drugs and royalty. Emerging markets are the future.

Just to add fuel to the fire.....

This what I've heard/read

***Update***

For those of you that wish to take this at face value, here's the latest update that I've been given:

A final sale figure has been agreed, I hear it's around £560m.

The sales process has been slightly slower than expected - Hicks HAS intervened on a number of issues, the stadium in particular... He wanted to be involved, as a 'third party' in making sure the stadium is built and that his design is the one that's implemented. He also wanted to have his own team, engaged in the construction process. Only these 2 factors have hampered the natural flow of the deal. He has not attempted to force the sales value towards £800m.

Regarding his stadium demands, I'm quite clear he'll have no involvement with the project going forward. I don't know how this has been resolved but I have heard rumours that a small 'working' partnership with businesses in the UAE have been offered to him.

I'm also told that other parties remain interested and despite Hicks being a pain, the other people are willing to move, should the existing deal break down, which is highly unlikely - I mean 99.9% unlikely. The other parties would step in and also insist that Hicks remains outside of the negotiating and stadium construction process.

Basically, Hicks is 'persona non grata'.

I think the 'official' announcement has slipped by a 7 to 10 days because of Hicks' intervention on the stadium but I think we could hear from the week starting 19th July.

I have not been given the name of a manager, although I have been told that the timeframe is dependent on 'outside' factors. Personally, I'm taking this to mean the World Cup but that's a wild guess. I've been reassured that the main target, has been approached and is highly regarded and would suit the job.

So, to sum up...

The sale has been agreed at around £560m

Hicks will not be involved with the stadium construction

Hicks has not scared off other potential investors

It's 99.9% certain that the existing bidders (Abu Dhabi based) will complete the sale

The sale will be completed or announced after 19th July

The new manager is already known to the board and the new owners

Just out of curiosity, does anyone remember similar rumours last summer?or around january?

LATEST: We are apparently on the brink of something very major, I've just heard/read/seen.

Here's the piece:

A new stadium has already been built - in a secret Arab location of course - and will be flewn in to John Lennon Airport on the 12th of July divided into 'flyable' pieces.

The new Dubai-based owners will arrive along the new 90,000 seater stadium made out of gold and sand - dining in the VIP area of the new stadium - as will the new manager alongside 5 of the WCs best players, including the best ones.

Hodgson is arriving on the same date but only to watch how they manage to move the stadium from the airport to the new gound in Stanley Park and how the bricks will all click.

He's always been way into LEGO. Yes.

Don't know whether this is all bullshat but I thought I'd share as it's seemingly ON!

*yeah yeah....already wears my goat..... *

These rumours are bollocks. We wont get bought until the two twats lower their asking price. I wouldnt be surprised if the 'sale' of the club is just a ploy to buy some time to refinance. Again.

That's possible, of course, but if so I don't think it'll work, as I don't think RBS are going to let themselves be dicked around for much longer, especially now they're largely government-owned. The government's need for cash is too great to allow that to happen.

They don't have to refinance, they just sell Mach Gerrard and Torres and all there problems are solved.

100 Million off the debt they need to wipe out will be gone, and so will our hopes ambitions and hopes for Liverpool...

Fortunately I'm sure the owners realise that if the club they have invested in becomes relegation fodder next season, the value of their investment will plummet. It's not in their financial interest to sell our best players.
