Let's take stock here

What a wonderful player..

Not the best of games, however scored two and the second.. Just..

Wow...

Probably the best individual goal I've seen at Anfield for some time

Since Torres against Chelsea..

Pity it wasn't the winning goal.

I could admit I've been an idiot about him, but I'll prefer to second guess him as he's obviously, like so many players, primarily fueled by a desire to prove me wrong. You're quite welcome.

Well, Doc and a few others probably did. I really was sceptical he'd settle anywhere near so fast, if at all, in this league, but he just keeps doing it. An amazing player.
Can I throw my hand up as I also (along with Doc) said he'd be boss - And so it goes. Outstanding player. I loved his little gesture to sort out the nipper in the Kop with his shirt at the end today. Brilliant stuff. 🙂

Enjoy him while he's here.

I reckon we'll get another season out of him but the only way to have a chance of keeping these players long-term (if their even is such a thing in football now) is to provide them with regular CL Football, look like a team that can challenge for trophies, and by buying other top players with all three factors being linked obviously. I'd love to say I've faith in us being able to give him those things but sadly I don't - not the way the Club is run.

Who called him the Egyptian Jermaine Pennant?
That should be posted and ridiculed.

Hahaha! I remember someone actually DID say that! I can't quite remember who.... I have a fair idea though.... 😉

Kudos if they thought he'd be as good as he is. An excellent spot which time has proven them right.

We will probably sell him in the summer to finance someone we will bring in next January. That's the way it works with these cunts. I doubt they could even pick Salah out in a team photo. They just know him as the Egyptian who keeps scoring goals and putting his value up.

Not gonna lie that 2nd goal gave me a serious boner. Reminded me a bit of the Torres goal against....fuck I can't remember but was a French team. Was it Bordeaux?

I called him a "fucking brilliant signing" last summer and he's turned out better than I could have ever imagined.

He's top 5 in the world, right?

He is - but I have noticed in the last two games he is becoming very greedy - like very greedy - even today when he scored that solo goal - especially so late in the game he had so many points where he could have crossed but did not. This selfishness may cost us - and he needs to sort that shit out. Also regarding Mane - despite his problems - he did setup that initial goal for Mo to score from I think, and also I get the feeling that Mane is scoring less goals because of Mo. When he is playing with Firminio, and Salah - it feels like he has less freedom.

The fact he's going to overtake Torres and Suarez as our best goalscorer of the last 20 years is astounding.

It still doesn't seem real that he's this good either.

That's the thing. It's kinda like Suarez when he was so wasteful in his first 1.5 seasons and then just went boom. If Salah had the same thing where he all of a sudden started turning most half chances into goals he'd get 50 a season. It's very odd, but very good.

That 2nd goal of his today was reminiscent of the Kuyt goal against the Manc's when Suarez slalom'ed through their entire defence on the byline. Only really special players can conjure that space at that speed against those teams.

He's at Suarez levels this kid.

What is wrong with me that I don't see him as anywhere near as good as Suarez? It's like I don't want to get carried away about another forward.

It isn't just that though, to my eye he doesn't look anywhere near as gifted technically, right up until he scores. It's like watching I'm watching the highlights of a very good player, rather than watching a great player, if that makes any sense.

It doesn't, does it?

I think Suarez had/has a) more strings to his bow, i.e. you could see him playing any one of half a dozen roles nevermind just positions, whereas Salah whilst not entirely one-dimensional, is a little more specialist in that he seems like he can play one or two positions brilliantly, but if you stuck him in central midfield say – he’s be fucking useless, whereas Suarez could probably hold his own, AND…

b) Suarez just seemed a little more energetic. When he was playing he was always somewhere on your screen – he popped up everywhere, influencing every move, every stage of play… He was kinda like Firmino with Salah’s goals. Salah on the other hand is a stealthy little fucker that only really seems to get interested when the ball’s at his feet, or when he thinks it might get to his feet – either through harassing or a through ball. It’s hard to believe he’s scored this many goals, not because he looks shit or anything, but just that he does it with such ease. He scores goals like De Gea makes saves these days.

I think Salah’s the better finisher and goalscorer out of the two, Suarez the better all-round player.
