Had my doubts over him before we signed him.

I had watched him quite alot when he was at Fiorentina & Roma - and he did very well at both clubs.

Talent was never in question, only his attitude - seems to be a completely different person to the one who signed for Chelsea.

Read an interview with him a few months ago where he admitted he didnt have the best attitude when he moved to Chelsea - which was nice to see him admitting that.

I think the one thing that really worked in his favour was that he essentially walked straight into our starting XI given the injury to Coutinho - got his game time, took it with both hands and never looked back.

It is inevitable that if he keeps firing eventually the likes of Madrid, Barca, PSG etc will come knocking - but from what I've seen so far I don't think leave on poor terms whenever that happens.

I really wish the President/PM of Egypt would stfu though.

What must he be thinking after scoring a wonder goal in the 92nd minute for what looks like the winner and then we still manage to concede a goal in injury time.

He will be off soon.

The fact he's going to overtake Torres and Suarez as our best goalscorer of the last 20 years is astounding.

It still doesn't seem real that he's this good either.

That's a big call.

I don't see it happening but hopefully it does.

What is wrong with me that I don't see him as anywhere near as good as Suarez? It's like I don't want to get carried away about another forward.

It isn't just that though, to my eye he doesn't look anywhere near as gifted technically, right up until he scores. It's like watching I'm watching the highlights of a very good player, rather than watching a great player, if that makes any sense.

It doesn't, does it?

I agree completely, I wouldn't say he's at Suarezs level yet at all.

Still brilliant of course.

I think the comparison with me in terms of how I feel about watching him play is like Suarez in his first season and a half with us - he looked really good but was so much better later on. Later on he'd moved to that mythical level where you expect him to score. I'm not there with Salah yet but if he steps up a level next season he'll be astonishingly good to the point he's putting teams to the sword almost by reputation.

Yet another star + team scenario, eh? He's supposed to be a member of the team, not an observer of it. And I'm sure he's not like that. He probably thought, 'Shit, we don't deserve this'. Like everyone else.

The difference between Suarez and Salah - is that Salah seems to do his shit like a silent assassin who just ... glides but Suarez played in an explosive manner like a bullfighter - who regularly goes into the crowded areas and powers his way through with his skills very much like the way Salah scored that goal against Spurs. They are two different approaches, but right now if we are honest and we measure the goals in the same way - Salah is on his way to surpassing Suarez. That is really difficult to say for me because I never believed in Salah to do well - I thought he was a waste of money because of the Chelsea thing.

I still prefer Suarez's style and direct approach - what salah did for that second goal against spurs - Suarez did on a regular basis - he took defenders on head on, and humiliated them.

Sorry, I meant within a single season.

Ah ok I thought you meant overall.

The funny thing is he's actually not that clinical in front of goal.

If he was he'd have 40 already.

I doubt we will ever see an all round player as good as Suarez again.

His stats suggested he was scoring a shit load of goals for a wide player throughout his career. Yes, he has stepped it up again, but no doubt he is benefiting from playing with Mane and Firmino. Unfortunately, he was also benefitting from Coutinho's passing, but that ship has sailed.

He still has another gear imo, sloppy, frustrating touches prevent goal scoring opportunities here and there as evidenced most recently as Sunday, That goal though, in fact, both goals. Positioning and movement for the first and then the way that ball magnetised to his boot for the second, it was like watching a 2013 highlight of Messi vs Levante or whoever.

Imagine what he could do with a bit more quality around him...

Theres no reason for an Egyptian to have any affiliation to those cunty clubs in Spain is there?

We need to limit the amount of games where he scores wonder goals and we then subsequently crumble at the back late on. There can only be a finite amount of times he experiences that before he wants to leave.

Mohamed Salah increased his sensational goal tally to 28 this season with a fine double against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday – and continued to set new club records in the process.

Having pounced on a loose backpass to give Liverpool the lead at Anfield in the third minute, the Egypt international struck a Goal of the Season contender with 91 on the clock by wriggling around three defenders inside the box and prodding a finish over Hugo Lloris.
Salah’s brace was not enough for all three points for the Reds, as a frantic conclusion to the Premier League clash saw the game end 2-2, but it did notch up yet another landmark for the unstoppable forward.
So, here’s a recap of the records that have tumbled since the No.11 arrived at Anfield last summer…
He reached five Premier League goals in nine games, the third-quickest player to achieve the feat for the Reds and also third-quickest in minutes (616).
Salah bagged nine goals in his first 12 league games, beating Robbie Fowler’s record of eight in 12.
The Egyptian equalled the club record by scoring a 10th Premier League goal in his 13th game, against Chelsea.
The No.11 became only the ninth Liverpool substitute in league history to score twice in a game (at Stoke City) and the first to do it away from home in 21 years.
Salah is the first LFC player since Ian Rush in 1986 to score 20 goals before Christmas, having reached the mark at Bournemouth. He also became the fourth-quickest by date to reach 20 and the joint-second-quickest to reach the landmark in games (26).

He is the scorer of the third-highest number of goals for the club before Christmas: 21.
The 25-year-old equalled the club record of 23 goals in a season before New Year with his brace at home to Leicester City.
Salah reached 25 goals for the Reds in the third-fewest number of games, 32, against West Bromwich Albion in the FA Cup.
He reached 20 league goals in the joint-fourth-fewest number of games in club history, 25, on Sunday.
Salah struck 20 Premier League goals in the fewest number of games: 25.

Salah: “King of the Kop? I don't know about that. I’m just happy scoring for the club I supported as a kid”

Mo Salah has told FourFourTwo there was no way he could turn down the chance to sign for Liverpool – the club he's loved since he was a child

The Egyptian forward, who failed to impress at Chelsea four years ago, has made a sensational start to his second coming in England’s top flight. His two goals at home to Spurs ensured he became the fastest Liverpool player to score 20 Premier League goals, achieving the feat in only 25 appearances.
An £11 million signing for Chelsea in January 2014, Salah made just 13 league outings for the west Londoners, but a profitable loan spell with Fiorentina was followed by two stellar seasons at Roma.

Twenty-nine Serie A goals for the Giallorossi convinced Jurgen Klopp to shell out a club-record £34m to bring the speedster to Anfield, and Salah says he needed no second invitation.

Speaking exclusively in the March 2018 issue of FourFourTwo magazine, out now, he says: “Ever since I was a kid, I had been a Liverpool fan – they were my favourite Premier League club. I've loved the club since I was young and knew this was a team I wanted to play for. I knew the history that this club has and, as soon as I got the chance, I had to make it happen.”

Philippe Coutinho’s January departure to Barcelona prompted Liverpool supporters to quickly crown Salah the latest King of the Kop. However, the flattered Egyptian insists he’s focused only on securing the club's first trophy since the 2012 League Cup, and first league title in nearly 30 years.

“I don’t know if it’s up to me to say that, so maybe I’ll let the fans say that,” laughs Salah. “I’m happy scoring goals for the club I supported as a kid – that’s all that matters. We want to push ourselves to win something. For us, for the fans and for the club. That is and always will be our target. A trophy.”

He's gone in the summer...

Oh come on, not even Liverpool could lose their best player after one single season at the club.

Plus he just doesn't seem the type to just fuck us off and move on that quickly. It would be rude. Plus we're not Everton.

After two seasons, though? If he keeps playing like this? Well, that's different.

If the offer is large enough who knows? Ronaldo is ageing and if the Old Toilets are happy to pay £80m for him, I can see them making a £200m plus offer.

Oh, I don't think it's impossible, or that Real or whoever won't make a huge bid, but FSG are too canny and PR-savvy for that, so there will be a huge show of 'not for sale at any price', a massive salary increase and a tacit understanding that he will be sold in one of the next two transfer windows, while Klopp rehearses his approved script about how we 'did everything we could to keep him'

I have no doubt - 100%, Klopp takes a cut and so do his assistants.

Can I throw my hand up as I also (along with Doc) said he'd be boss - And so it goes. Outstanding player. I loved his little gesture to sort out the nipper in the Kop with his shirt at the end today. Brilliant stuff. 🙂
Nice little Vonnegut in there.
