Michail Antonio on Salah's move to Saudi:

“He didn’t turn that down, no way. He was locked up and the Reds had put that red arrow across: ‘You are not going anywhere’. He did not stop that at all. To be fair to him, he didn’t kick up a fuss and let them do what they were doing. But I know for a fact that he was ready to go."

"What else can he do at Liverpool? He’s done it. It’s [Saudi] a great opportunity for him, he is a Muslim man and it had everything screaming out for him. There was no actual negative for the man to not go. I understand he has a contract, which he has fulfilled.

“So he wins another [Premier League title], do you know what that just means? He has won another. It doesn’t add much to anything else. He has done everything he could possibly do at Liverpool. I am saying to you right now, a Muslim man going to a Muslim country, £215m to Liverpool for a 31-year-old - I just find it completely crazy they’ve not accepted that.

“My question to you is this: what do you think Liverpool are playing for this year? Even if you couldn’t replace the man, let’s call this season a write-off.”

--------------

Utter nonsense
Who is Michail Antonio, the West Ham striker?

We do not need to replace Salah exactly like for like, but unless Nunez starts showing enough to become a reliable source of goals then any replacement is going to need to know where the back of the net is. It's possible Diaz steps up and becomes a monster goal scorer in the next 18 months. Jota how shown hes capable, too.

If we to back to his time at Roma, Salah was scoring a goal in every two games for consecutive seasons. I do not think we'll find anyone putting those numbers over 2 years.

The players I'm keeping an eye on are Olise, Neto, Adeyemi and Chukwueze. I wouldn't be shocked at all of 2 or 3 of them really kick on this year and start producing some very impressive stats.

Neto is well on the way already.

Neto has been impressive so far this season. If he can keep himself fit he an be an option next summer.

I don't think Mo is going to be taking any lessons on footballing ambition from Michail Antonio.

Is Antonio just bitter at his Saudi move falling through or was the exciting new challenge of achieving mid-table obscurity without a relegation battle simply too much for him to turn down???

Might be getting a bit giddy after winning the (checks notes) Europa Conference League, whatever that is.

As impressive as that is, and it's seriously impressive, Ronaldo's stats includes his time at a very young age at the start of his career. His numbers from a couple of years before he left and then at Madrid are pretty staggering, from memory. Hate him though.

It's crazy for me to think about it. The chronology couldn't be more humiliating.

Ronaldo played for the mancs until he hit the very beginning of his peak. Then, he fucked off, because he wanted to play for a bigger club. Then, he returned after playing the entirety of his useful years, and all of his peak years, for other clubs.

Then they welcomed him back like he was a god, and that his return meant that their great club, the one he cuckolded, was once great again

Then he kicked up a big fuss and left them for more money.

And they still kindof like him.

Gosh. Antonio is just expressing an opinion. He's not calling us shit or anything.

And what he says isn't absurd. Benzema, CR7, Coutinho, Mane, Mahrez, Kante, Veiga, Caicedo and Nkunku have all downgraded for money. So why not Salah?

"Why not salah?"wasn't his claim.

Why wouldn't Salah want to win the league and be given a chance to celebrate in front of the fans?
Of course he would want that but it’s hardly utter nonsense, lots of players move on when they feel they’ve won everything there is to win. It’s not an utter nonsense take on things imo.

In that case, Mo clearly decided to stay so he could win the one European trophy that has, so far eluded him.

Hopefully this is his one and only chance to complete the set with us.

And if he fails, he can have a good shot at the Europa Conference in 24/25

It's all the Glazers' fault though, silly

If the FA won't let Rangers and Celtic in the English leagues.

It's unlikely UEFA will devalue their own flag ship competition to let the Saudi clubs in.
Interesting, why are the FA fine with Cardiff, Swansea and Wrexham
