sack Rafa

I want Rafa to move on but I agree at the end of the season may be best. My heart tells me that Rafa could still be a success but my head, and looking at what's in front of us with regards performances, motivation and tactics, says otherwise.

I would be pleasantly amazed (and deeply respectful) if Rafa walked away from a £15m payout because he felt he could no longer motivate the players.

It's weird, I wanted him gone Wednesday night but now that it might happen I'm getting cold feet.

Arrrrrggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

If only Albert Riera were a football rumour.

I actually think our only chance of 4th is if he walks.

If he does he will go up massively in my estimation.

Ha ha, very good.

But if any player needs motivating to play for Liverpool he doesn't deserve to be at the club. I've zero sympathy with any of them.

Another short-term caretaker option if Rafa and the board thrash out a workable scenario and he walks early, with a view to testing Mourinho's interest in summer.

I have to say, it sounds rather fanciful to me, although there has certainly been some chats between Rafa and the powers that be that have not been on the agenda until now. Hardly any surprise, really.

Still, I pass on what I hear, as your humble servant.

I don't feel nervous at all. I'd feel excited if I could really bring myself to believe that Rafa will walk. I don't think he will though - this is just rumour city.

He needs to stay until the summer.
I still have a little faith left inside me.

I said at the beginning of last season I want Rafa gone, it has been the same shit for a while some questionable tactics with some questionable buys. The poor starts to the season and frustration in the league and being out of the title race by Jan would ease due to a great European run and a strong finish to the season but there has been nothing to suggest that would change. Towards the end of last season I began to question myself (again) and think maybe I was wrong, maybe Rafa has turned it around due to a good season, but the vibe around the club has not been right since pre-season and the club has been left in turmoil (not all of this is Rafa's fault) but large parts of the turmoil is because of Rafa and his inability to motivate playing staff to do well, and of course because some of the playing staff at the club are clearly not good enough to play for a top Premiership club.

I want him to move on cos he has the same look of 'what the fuck shall I do now' that GH had towards the end of his employment at the club. He looks like he has no idea, the players look like they have no idea and even Sammy Lee can't be fucked getting amped up during a game anymore.

Then they deserve nothing but contempt. I'm disgusted by their attitude this season. Second division players put in more effort than they do.

I agree a rumour that he is willing to fall on his sword takes one back a bit, despite one's feelings

I don't think things could get any worse on the pitch and in the dressing room, and a new manager usually has some sort of bounce effect, even if it's short term.
If we could get in a suitable permanent replacement, now would be an ideal and logical time to do it. They would have the rest of this season to evaluate everything, and settle in, have the chance to look at a couple of possibilities in this window, and a full summer transfer window for what is going to be a vital season.

regards

At least if he walks now and we get someone new in, we have 2 weeks left of the transfer window.

A new manager might want to bring in 1-2 players. Preferably on loan of course.

With Guus Hiddink expressing an ambition to return to England today - with both Liverpool and Chelsea keen - Juve are turning to Benitez as a potential replacement for Ciro Ferrara, says Tuttosport.

I really really hope that isn't true Sunny.

Despite whatever people may think I'm sure it'll harm our chances of reaching 4th even further.

This Season has been and sadly still is abysmal. It's been a battle to survive almost from the off and the extreme ammount of injuries to key-players has ruined everything half decent.

Excuses, excuses, excuses people say. And they are damn right.

But sometimes excuses are actually valid. No-one would've managed to take us all the way to the top at this stage, baring in mind the ammount of challenges constantly piling up. From injuries to beachballs to goals scored against deep into injurytime.

I can't think of one single Season (maybe apart from the 88/89 Season) where we've rode our bad luck so thorough as has been the case this Season).

I'd be livid if Rafa were to be sacked at this stage. I'd be extremely sad if he left on his own despite whatever the masses on here should think.

Stay Rafa. For know at least.
We have had some bad luck this season with injuries, incidents during games etc. But we have also been so bad that nothing can excuse our performances.

Its been sad to watch our season unravel so quickly. But the fear and lack of motivation which has infected the players this season has to be sorted and quick or things will only get worse.
I dont think Rafa can pull another rabbit out of the hat and turn things around as he has in the past and while he still has the respect if not the full backing of the majority of fans its probably best if he goes now.
If it happens I will always remember him as someone who always stuck to what he believed was best for the club and gave us some fantastic memories along the way.

I thought we had a fantastic run after Keane left. Most of our draws (that cost us the title) was when Keane was with us. I have not checked the facts and if wrong I stand corrected.
Pretty much Y1.
I think we lost to Boro away in Feb, but after that we were flying.
We didn't win a league match in Jan, we had 3 one all draws.
The 3 one all draws, was Keane sold then?

It doesn't really matter as he hardly got a game by then anyway, and if he did score he got dropped the next game

regards

PS the point is he was, and is, better than nothing like we have done without since he went

Ha, great minds and all that Vlad.

Can't see why Chelsea would be interested, that must be in a Direcor of Football setting or somehing.

I was addressing the point that if Keane had stayed we would have won the title which I doubt. So without him we actually played better and had a fantastic run. So selling Keane was not Rafa's fault that we did not win the PL.

Also, was it Rafa who chose the fitness staff that started at the club this summer? and we are blaming Rafa for the departure of the origional Paco?

I will be sad when Rafa leaves, but it needs to be done fuck it the club moves onto another era cos the end of this last one has been soul destroying

I agree.

Having lots of injuries is unlucky, though I do wonder if there is more to it than that. One of the things which I thought really improved at Liverpool under Benitez was player fitness, yet this season not only are players getting injured all the time but even the ones who are playing don't look particularly sharp a lot of the time.

We have had injury crises before incidently. In Souness's first season players were constantly injured. That was what gave several young players their chance
