Babel shouldnt start. He is an attack minded guy, and those guys will not have working conditions in Rafas style of play. Rafa wants players who will work their socks off defensively, and rather hold back when the team "attacks".

That's a bit of a squiff view, when you consider that we were the highest scoring side last season, Torres has scored the most goals in a debut season for an overseas player, and Steven Gerrard has had a BRILLIANT goalscoring record under Benitez.
There might be some issue over his cautiousness and his ability to consistently spot good attacking talent (more so outwide) but saying Babel has failed or won't succeed because Rafa has blunted his attacking nature is bollocks.

Babel has plenty of power and pace, and in many ways he reminds me of a mixture of Cisse and Baros... None of them had the main attribute that Rafa is looking for and that is a steady defensive work rate helping the team in its collective pressure. In seasons we have done well the way we press as a team was world class and our main Key Success factor. The way we pressed Chelsea in those semis have been outstanding. We won the ball high in the pitch and had a short distance to go. This season we have managed to press like a girls scout team, and hence we have seldom put ourself in scoring positions, Lucas being one of the main culprits in our defensive play (but also Kuyt/Mascher/ Riera i.e. being out of form).. And this is where Benitez cautious style hampen us. When we win the ball high up, we have players high up. When we win it at our own box we have a long way to transport the ball, and with defensive work as priority number 1 we rarely have more than one player treathening the opposition box. you will NEVER see one of the two CM inside or even near the box. You will extremely rarely see the opposite winger inside or treathening the box. You will hardly see more than one of the strikers (I pur Gerrard as a striker here) inside tha box. This leaves us hard to counter on, but in the same manner extremely easy to defend against.
So where is Babel in all this. He is a typical attacking winger. Likes to push in between the full back and CD or cut from outside the full bak into the room behind him. This is what he can do, this is his strength as a footie. How can he do this if his position is 20 meter lower than the any full back pushes forward? Noone is that quick. And to have him running around covering his own fullback and help the team press is useless. He is appr at lucas level defensively. No use at all. So yes our style of play is not made for Babel.... Not stating that he would be the perfect match for us if we played a different style, but at least it would make sense to have him in the squad... He is the fucking lamppost that Benitez bought himself when given money for a sofa!
