Id rather pay off the debt. Honestly we're not going to finish in the top 4 so we need to reduce the burden as much as possible before we hit the hard times.

If it was 9m for joe cole, then you could make an exception. But jones? Are you kidding me, he's not even an improvement on pacheco. In fact he's worse
So you'd rather 9M went to a bank than us getting a proven goalscorer.
And Pacheco who's never started a first team game ever is a better option than him.

Stop.

"Jones was fantastic and I have played against him twice now. He is a very good player, very hard working and probably the best in the air in the entire Premier League, he really is that good"

- John Terry.

but john terry struggles with pace. so why did jones decide to get into an ariel battle with him instead? twice?

He's not great technically though, is he?

He's just quite a physically imposing character, that as said, on his day can use it to pretty good effect. Maybe I'm judging his ability as a footballer harshly, but is he really top 4 material?
No, he isn't.

For me, this would represent an admission that our midfield is useless, and an indication that we intend to tackle that problem by bypassing it altogether.

Anyone that thinks a straight swap with Jones for Babel is not a good idea and good business in our present predicament has obviously missed their morning injection.
He may not be the quality we want , but I have seen him to be very effective.
It would be a clear and definate improvement

regards

At least it's another option Del plan "A" is not working very well. Perhaps he thinks Kenwyne would benefit from Maxi, and not particularly a hoof up front.
A big strong no nonsense guy up front would be a great option and take pressure off Torres

Even if the intention isn't to hoof it up to him, that will inevitably become the 'easy' option when things aren't going well. Which they aren't.

if you want a big man, get some fuck face from league 1 for half a million. What qualiity does he have that he can contribute to justify 9million? he's a fucking average to shit player nowhere near good enough for us.

He's better than kuyt, and ngog and babel. Wow. Being pissed on is better than being shitted on.

Wasn't Bruce in the paper the other day saying jones would cost 40mil for anyone that's thinking of buying him. I know he wouldn't get that but I reckon he would want at least 15 mil for him, an babel ain't worth that. Wouldn't mind it happening but can't See Bruce being that daft.

Babel may have been left out simply because Riera is now available for the left and Maxi for the right.

i really haven't seen much of jones. we definitely need someone with presence, though - and i don't mean heskey ffs.

From the Q&A with Barret, it sounds like Chamach is a done deal.

Jones sounds, at the very most, an insurance policy. Or complete bollocks.

Great. A striker who doesn't score goals.

He scored one in two last season, and is doing the same this season.

I thought his record was something like one in four or five. In the French League.
It is. But it appears last season was his 'breakthrough' season and he's been fairly prolific since. Not that I know a thing about him or anything but it may be that the penny's dropped and he's realised where the goal is. We can but hope anyway.

kenwin jones are you on about ? what the fuck was wrong with crouch he was a target men and he scored goals as we will find out next wed

Where are from originally, Albeyred? Don't pay attention to anyone criticising your English, it's not an easy second language to learn.

ye then all we need is 9 more jamie c's to hoof the ball from back to front and were going to win number 19 ,20 ,21 fucking fantastic

Chamakh will be a decent punt not least because he's 6"3 and his movement is good. If ever a player is made for the premier league it;s him, he will work hard and handle himself well. I dont think he has ever been prolific but he has a lot of experience and his build is ideal, quite similar to Torres infact but obviously he's not as good but who knows he might benefit from coaching and show improvement. To get a player like this would normally command a fee in the many millions

Ryan Babel Angers Liverpool By Rejecting Sunderland Swap Deal With Kenwyne Jones - Report

Liverpool's out-of-favour Ryan Babel is reportedly ready to infuriate manager Rafael Benitez by rejecting a transfer to Sunderland, which would have seen striker Kenwyne Jones move the other way.
By Gill Clark

Babel’s future at Anfield remains the subject of much speculation with Birmingham City believed to have failed with a bid for the Dutchman while a host of other clubs including Marseille, Besiktas and Fiorentina have also been linked with the 23-year-old.

The former Ajax man was also left out of Saturday's squad to face Stoke City, despite injuries to Yossi Benayoun, Fernando Torres and Steven Gerrard. A move which is likely to further intensify speculation surrounding his future.

The Sunday People now reports that Babel is ready to reject a move to Sunderland in a deal which would have seen striker Jones switch to Anfield.

The tabloid claims Babel is “reluctant to go to Wearside†a decision which is unlikely to impress manager Benitez who, according to the report, is keen to sign Jones as cover for the injured Fernando Torres.
