So Rami is 1m90 and 90kg. Sounds like a big lad. Is he any good?

He's all right. His hair is very styled though, which isn't a good sign for a central defender IMO. I prefer them with broken noses and crew-cuts. Reminds me a bit of the Mexico captain Marquez, who was at Barca.

Bordeaux boss Jean Tigana is tipping Eden Hazard to go on to big things after watching him inspire Lille's run to the top of Ligue 1.

Rudi Garcia's Lille lead the way on goal difference from Montpellier after winning three consecutive games, and a key man in their recent run is 19-year-old playmaker Hazard.

The Belgium international has so far resisted the temptation to move to a bigger club in a more established league, a move which Tigana wholeheartedly endorses.

He said: "He is a very good player.

"Lille is only the first step. After that he will go to one of Europe's biggest clubs.

"But he has been smart to stay put. It is useless going to a big club and then being stuck on the bench. It is much better to play.

"In addition to his qualities as a footballer he must also have a good entourage because he has been given some very good advice.

"If I were him I would stay for another year or two, then leave."

Tigana has been impressed by Lille's rise and was full of praise for their potency going forward, adding: "I think collectively Lille are the best team at keeping the ball.

"They are the best team offensively with three strikers and the formula of getting the ball forward quickly.

"Their strikers are very quick and very effective."

Zinedine Zidane has warned Liverpool that they face a fight to sign Belgium wonderkid Eden Hazard.

The Merseysiders have been impressed by the 19-year-old Lille playmaker, but his performances have also been noted at the Bernabeu.

France legend Zidane, an adviser to Real Madrid president Florentino Perez, admitted: ‘What he has been doing for his club has been extraordinary. Would it be possible to see him one day in Madrid? It may be.’

Arsenal and Manchester United have also tracked Hazard, who is already approaching 20 full international caps despite being a teenager.

Lille president Michel Seydoux admitted last week that he was braced for bids after Liverpool scouts watched the 5ft 7in midfielder ooze class during the side’s 2-1 win over Monaco.

Chelsea have put down a marker in the chase for Eden Hazard after it emerged they have already tested Lille's resolve over hanging on to Europe's most wanted teenager.

Sources close to the 19-year old wing sensation claim he struck a deal with Lille president Michel Seydoux over his immediate future after Chelsea made an approach for him in the summer.

After rejecting Chelsea's bid, Seydoux promised to look favourably on any subsequent offers at the end of the season, provided Hazard stayed put and tried to help them win their first French League title in 57 years.

Hazard went along with the agreement and has become a target for leading clubs across Europe after inspiring Lille to their best season in living memory.

They had top spot to themselves in France until a 1-1 draw at Bordeaux on Saturday allowed Marseille to overhaul them on goal difference, with their 4-0 win over Montpellier.

Even then, Hazard, whose form has been closely monitored by Liverpool scouts and even manager Roy Hodgson in recent weeks, almost snatched victory with a mazy run near the end.

Zinedine Zidane has done his best to push the Belgium flyer towards Real Madrid, but there are clear signs he could just as easily end up in the Premier League, following news of Chelsea's move and his long-standing admiration for Arsenal.

'For all the interest in him, Chelsea are the only ones who have made an approach,' said a source.

'He has agreed with the president that he will not leave in the January window, but something may well happen at the end of the season.

'Of course, Real Madrid would be an attractive proposition, but Eden really likes Arsenal's style of play under Arsene Wenger.

'There is even something of Sami Nasri about him. He can play on either flank or through the middle, and he has great pace and technique. Arsenal would suit him perfectly.'

Chelsea and Real Madrid in the bidding process?

We'll look elsewhere. Link over.

Moussa Sow

Age : 24
Date of Birth : 19/01/1986
Nationality: Sénégal
Height/Weight : 1m80/76 kg
Matches in Ligue 1 : 96
Goals in Ligue 1 : 21

A second striker is the top priority, which is why 23-year-old Gervinho is considered a prospect for a club for whom young acquisitions are essential. Moussa Sow, Lille's 23-year-old Senegalese striker, has scored nine goals in 13 games this season though it is unclear whether he is a contender.

Scored a hattrick in Lille's 6-3 home win vs Lorient. Gervinho scored 1 and created another in the same match.

I guess we may have a chance but it's probably the Gooners, especially if Cesc leaves.

Lille winger Hazard, 19, is rated among the most promising talents in Europe and has for some time been talking up the prospect of a move to Real Madrid or Arsenal.

Zinedine Zidane has recommended the player to Madrid, but Hazard has now said he believes his first-team opportunities would be restricted at the Bernabeu and that he would prefer to continue his development at a club like Arsenal.

"I could have gone [to Chelsea] last June, but I was not ready to make that big leap," he said. "Recently, the press have been writing about interest from Liverpool, and it is nice to hear your name being mentioned everywhere, especially with the best teams in the world.

"If I do leave at the end of the season, I don't want to go somewhere I will be on the bench, and it will be difficult to break through in a team like Real, where Ronaldo and Kaka will be my competitors.

"But there are teams like Arsenal, where youngsters can grow more easily into the first team and make their mark.

"I will not leave for another French club because, with 100 matches under my belt for Lille, I don't think I have to prove my qualities for a team in the same league."

Liverpool boss Roy Hodgson saw Hazard in action during a recent scouting trip in France.

Liverpool have turned their well-known interest in Lille ace Gervinho into an official offer in the region of €12.5m, according to tuttomercatoweb.com.

French outfit Lille were believed to be demanding €15m for the player, but due to good relations between the two sides, it appears they have now lowered their asking price.

The Ivorian international, who has been doing exceptionally well this year, has so far contributed seven goals and four assists to Lille's league campaign.

Gervinho's got something we haven't seen in a while in our team; Blistering pace and tricky feets.

However Hazard is much more interesting. Buy him instead please, or at least first.

And as I've just learned Eden's got a younger brother who's equally capable of playing on the wing we should buy him too.

We need 'The Hazards'.

i'm somewhat sceptical of this fella despite some obvious decorative skills. my predilection is for hazard

I love the way you say "feets", KHL.

I don't want Gervinho. Plus he looks a gimp. Hazard or nobody.

I should've dropped the 's' I take it?

Tricky FEET!

?

Yeah ha.

Your English is absolutely perfect apart from that. It's the only mistake I've seen you make and I've seen it a couple of times. I'm not having a go at you, like, it's funny.

Actually, I think I prefer "feets" to be honest.

I hope that didn't sound patronising?

Haha not at all mate.

I'm just glad you pointed it out actually. Not saying I'm not going to make the same mistake again at some point but at least now I'm aware of it.

Cheers for the nice words too.

Commolli has revealed that the versatile frontman is a big priority because the club are desperate to land a support striker for Fernando Torres before the window closes.

Speaking on French TV show Les Specialistes, Commolli said: "We want a forward because we lack pace and penetration on the flanks'.

Asked about highly-rated alternatives Gervinho and Eden Hazard at Lille, Commolli added: "Gervinho and Hazard are super players but I know the Lille board well and they won't sell in January."

Nice read on Lille:

http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/european/lille-reject-english-way-to-threaten-french-elite-2249961.html

Some extracts:

LOSC – their former name was Lille Olympique Sporting Club – are on the move in every sense. Four years ago they took up residence in one of Europe's best appointed training grounds and from the summer of 2012 they will play at the Grand Stade Lille Métropole, a state-of-the-art 50,000-capacity arena currently under construction.

The new stadium, where 650 builders have been working since construction started a year ago, is central to Seydoux's plans. Lille initially had intended to redevelop the Stade Grimonprez-Jooris, which they left in 2004, but the project never get off the ground. For the last seven years they have played at the 18,000-capacity Stadium Lille Métropole, where an athletics track makes it hard to generate any atmosphere.

The cost to LOSC? Rien du tout. The stadium is being built by the local authority, who will rent it out to the club. All revenue from ticket sales and commercial activity at Lille's matches – merchandising, food and drink, plus 7,000 places for corporate hospitality – will go to the club. Rudi Garcia, the team manager, says that moving to the stadium will swell Lille's annual budget from ¤60m (£52m) to ¤80m (£70m).

"It will be a first for Europe," Paquet, the general manager, said of the move. "I don't think any club has gone from a stadium with an 18,000 capacity to one with a 50,000 capacity. We know it won't be easy, but we're expecting gates to average between 37,000 and 40,000.

With the ground sorted, the club have been able to concentrate on other areas. They spent ¤20m (£17m) – all generated from their own resources – on a training ground at the Domaine de Luchin, which used to be a farm. The site is home to Lille's first-team squad, their youth academy and the club offices. The buildings have all been rebuilt or renovated, with an area of woodland converted into training pitches.

Lille's playing budget has also risen steadily. Lyons and Marseilles will remain the country's biggest spenders, but once the move to the new stadium is completed Lille expect to match Paris St-Germain, currently third in the French rich list. Lens, just 15 miles away, were traditionally Lille's biggest rivals, but now they see the likes of Lyons and Marseilles as their main competitors.

Garcia has largely worked with the players he inherited, though two recent arrivals have helped his team become this season's leading scorers in France. Moussa Sow, a 25-year-old Senegalese signed from Rennes, and Gervinho, a 23-year-old Ivorian recruited from Le Mans, have scored 31 league goals between them in the current campaign.

Paquet said the club were determined to maintain the strength of their squad, even if some players leave. What if someone like Hazard moved for a fee of, say, ¤25m (£22m)? "More than that," Paquet said with a smile, before adding: "What's important to us in signing players is not the figure, but whether it's the right price. We try to buy well and sell well. Today the biggest transfer fee we have ever paid was for Gervinho, who cost ¤6m [£5.2m]. We are changing dimension, however, and perhaps we will exceed that in the future."

Its fucking annoying to hear other clubs sorting their shit out so well*

Fair play to them if they manage to get 40,000 people in that stadium every other week.

How big was the old stadium ( before the 18,000 seater) because to have the scope for attendance to jump from 18,000 to 40,000 per week means there must be an absolute monster fan base gagging to get to the match on a weekly basis

Yeah, will be an interesting challenge but they do seem to have an existing fan base of considerable size. From the same article:

"Moving to a stadium with a capacity nearly three times that of their current home might appear ambitious, but Lille were heartened by two league matches against Lyons which they played 130 miles away in Paris at the 80,000-seat Stade de France. It was filled both times, as it has been for some of Lille's Champions League matches."

Think their capacity was too low to host CL matches thus played at Stade de France.

Seem to have a bit of Villarreal in them.
