I think it's the ridiculous nature of the posts against Rodgers that Mark actually has an issue with. And he's right.
Rodgers has minimal support amongst the fanbase, he's never been particularly likeable, he's had zero success - he has little or no equity to rely with fans. I don't think anyone would keep him if there truly was a better option waiting in the wings to take the job.
We're five games into a season, which we should have expected to start slowly because of the numerous changes to the squad. It takes time for the players to get used to each other. Rodgers hasn't done anything to really improve the situation. But then he's without his captain and best midfielder too.
A bit of perspective is needed
Voice of reason there. What gets to me is that taking offense to the vitriol is seen as being a superfan. If you're defending certain aspects of his reign, then you're rose tinted, blah blah. I don't particularly like him, I don't pay much attention to his PC's but I think he was picked apart for the type of comments other managers have gotten away with. So when you see it coming from posters who've backed previous managers to the hilt for the same things, it kinda gets a bit hypocritical and difficult to take seriously. Rodgers is talking shite now though, he's swimming against the tide.
I've had spats with Peter and GKMacca lately, both of whom admittedly I do like as posters, for the most part I can agree on stuff with them, or at least agree to disagree and talk about it reasonably. Things have got a bit fiery with both for reasons like the above, things just got a bit too repetitive and personal (towards the manager), when it's unnecessary, but Macca's a good sort and it took along time for frustration to snap there, as I guess it did for him with me. I was being a cunt though so it's six of one.
As for the rest, well there's not really much defense for the likes of Moo, Arn etc, repeating themselves. In defense of Arn, at least he bothers to put a point together into an explanatory post, even if it does amount to the same drone, but Moo? Why wouldn't people get fucked off reading that daily?
Returning to the point, I don't think Rodgers can have any complaints if he goes and if we're all agreed on one thing, it's that old Liverpool philosophy, if you can improve 1% on any aspect of the club, then we do it, no questions. There's clearly alot of room for improvement, just don't expect me to join in with pathetic, unwarranted name calling towards him or his signings. We all know who's not good enough, we all know what Rodgers' flaws are, we also know what good stuff he has done (unless you choose to ignore it) and what good players he has signed. Just show some perspective and stop with losing sight of the fact that we just want to be winning games regardless. People seem more focused on winning petty battles of oneupmanship, on seeing him fail to be proven right. That can't be right.
