Roberto Firmino - signed the silky swine

I thought countries like Brazil were exempt from that quota as they were very good? Or something like that anyway.

Don't think so. Young Brazilian usually end up in Portugal and Spain due to a reduced criteria for eligibility. English clubs usually pick them up at a higher price once they've already played in Europe.

Yeh, I got it the wrong way around, the criteria only applies to teams in the top 70 fifa rankings. Willian got a work permit despite having only played two games for Brazil when he joined Chelsea, so Firmino who's currently on nine, and will probably be on more by the time the work permit process begins, should have absolutely no trouble.

Presumably this applies to Germany as well? I can't remember where I read it (it may be a Tim Vickery article) but apparently German scouts are very active in the south of Brazil because there are a lot of German immigrants there. I don't know whether there are a decent number of brazilian footballers going over to Germany but I've always found it weird that English teams never sign the players when they go for 3-4 million and European teams can. I presume this is work permit stuff but it would be interesting to know why our rules are tighter than theirs.

When Suarez came, most of us have not heard of him too.

Hope it works the same...

He'd just become the most famous footballing villain in the world by handling the ball on the line to help put Ghana out of the World Cup (after scoring a couple of sensational goals and being one of the players of the tournament up to that point). So I'd say most people had heard of him.

People often disregard those few years that South American players spend at the European clubs as just time for their value to appreciate, but they actually develop a hell of a lot in that time, it's their time there which makes them the players we end up signing. If we signed them straight from South American for the cheap price they wouldn't be good enough, wouldn't get the game time, and would ultimately move on for little to nothing / spend all their time out on loan, just look at Gabriel Paletta, Sebastian Leto and Sebastian Coates for evidence of that.

I still think he'll play mostly in a front three, with Coutinho spearheading midfield and Firmino roaming ala Suarez.

That's my thoughts..

I don't see this fella as a replacement for Sterling..

He is more a replacement for Suarez.. given his attributes and Strengths..

Hopefully he will bring the 'menace' back to our forward play..

He's a replacement for aspects of Suarez, in terms of his work-rate, his pressing etc. But he won't contribute the same amount of goals. Which is why we'll still need to sign a striker.

Absolutley.. but I get the feeling we won't until we offload Balotelli, Borini and Lambert

I cannot beleive it..

I posted some fanny in the Firmino thread and only one like..

Hard crowd to please...

Is there pussy?
I'm on tapatalk maybe it has a pussy filter.
The picture I can see is safe for newborns.

Directly under his left forearm. It's a bit shadowy, but there's definitely flange there.
