Everything's suddenly picking up pace and going a bit bonkers.

Realistically Cole, Aquilani, Maxi (gone), Kuyt (gone), Aurelio (gone), Adam, Downing, Carroll and Bellamy could all go this Summer.

I hope this doesn't go Souey-esque.

I've not seen all that many been linked with moves out though.

We sold a hairy fuckload last summer too:

Thats a lot of players leaving......

Just hope we can get the replacements in quickly now so we can have a pre-season and time to implement BR strategy

This is going to be a really young squad.

Gone:
Kuyt (31)
Maxi (31)
Aurelio (32)
Most likely Bellers (33)

Hello:
Borini (21)

Its a lot of changes. It frees up about 600 k a week in wages. But I'd rather keep Bellers and Maxi at least.
We need some quality replacements.

How about we bring up the old "Best transfer window ever" thread?

*evil laugh*

Nah, but seriously this window has the potential to be the most exciting one we've had for a long time.

well at the very least Kuyt and maxi are gone ....odds are bellamy will too ....so we'll need to replace these players . Although aquilani and cole could be the replacements or the likes of Sterling will be fully promoted .

We actually still have fuck loads in midfield positions .....gerrard , henderson , lucas , adam , cole , aquilani , spearing , downing . Whether or not the quality or balance is there in that lot it another question .

I'm not against getting rid of alot of players as long as we get decent replacements . Souness let some good players go and replaced them with shite .
But for the moment it looks more like moving on a few older , highly paid players . And anyway , even if we want to move some of the others on i fear we won't find anyone willing to pay much or who will match their wages . We're stuck with the numpties .

we need wingers, or a couple more players that can play in a front three as seems to be the case, thats if henderson isnt played out wide, which i really hope he isnt

well who do we have for the wide positions .....Borini (i'm guessing ) , Suarez maybe if we play 3 up front with carroll the main striker , downing , Bellamy if he stays , Cole and sterling maybe ? So yeah if we want to play a 4-3-3 with pace out wide we might need to bomb out some of those useless midfielders and get some wide players instead .

Im genuinely excited about this transfer window, it has a real sense of this could be fucking genius/disaster about it. So far I like what I see, Im sure every transfer wont be a success but we badly need to reduce the wage bill if we are to bring in new players and most of those whose necks are being readied for the block are either older/overpaid players or ones who wont feature in the new system, from that perspective a cull seems pretty logical.

Borini for €10m is a great piece of business, I was worried we would end up paying closer to €15m, more of the same please, out with the old overpaid dross in with the young talented and inexpensive signings

Borini is a great start, he's one of those cheap but could be brilliant signings, a bit like Hernandez. Who do we get next though? Dempsey? Old with expensive wages looks like its something we're trying to avoid, but at <£6m and <£60k, I wouldn't be too opposed. What about this Ramirez guy? He seemed nailed on last week but now we've heard nothing, maybe Bologna were not budging from their inflated price and we weren't going to be taken for mugs, promising if true. All in all though this is a very exciting summer, no one has any idea what were going to do, last summer we all knew about the Downing, Adam, Henderson, Jones and Enrique sagas, nothing this summer, just the off rumours about players, long may it continue!

Rogers from what I remember said one the reasons he failed at Reading was he tried to change too much too soon, he's doing a fair bit of that already. Not too confident on his current actions, looks like another expensive mess for the next manager/owners to clean to be honest...

Kuyt more or less had his move already set up before Rodgers arrived and Maxi wanted to move back home which forced his hand as he wanted to keep hold of him and everyone has approved the signing of Borini. Would you rather he held Maxi against his will and not signed Borini?

I was referring to his next set of moves, Carol and the players coming.
To be honest, I have no idea about Borini and not seen enough of him to comment.
His record is ok.
My point is he going to make the same mistakes as he did with Reading?
Is that what you want for LFC?
Players may have tied up moves before he came in but until the 1st of July, they could have still changed their minds.
I hope he does a good job but right now not confident, maybe change with the first 10 games but the fixtures aren't kind to him either.

The defensive unit and spine of the team remains in tact so I'm confident that Rodgers is doing exactly what he needs to. He is freshening up our attacking unit and bringing in players who'll hopefully be more potent in front of goal.

We done fairly well against the top 6 clubs so I'm quite confident that we'll show an immediate improvement especially with the lads enjoying training and grasping the BR blueprint.

Have a little faith! YNWA

I remember someone on here linked a great article about Rodgers' spell at Reading. I think it highlighted how he was cursed with injuries and various other external factors that were going against him. You're correct that the initial games aren't kind to him: West Brom (A), Man City (H), Arsenal (H), Sunderland (A), Man Utd (H), but at least we know what we're up against and we need to be raring to go from the first whistle, plus those clubs won't want to come to Anfield so early on. To be honest I think it was Dirk's time to move on, he was a great servant to the club and wish him all the best at Fenerbache.

I did like his energy in his press conferences and hope it works, would be nice if he gave someone like Suso a go early, fans would always be willing to give a new man a go if he can show something different.
