I'd rather have arbeloa back and at left back than riise. now, arbeloa is a fullback I'm sad we released.
You're fucking hopeless. Arbeloa had about 3 good games at LB and plenty of hopeless ones. He was a good right back mind you. Riise was part of one of our strongest defences ever for about 6 years, even with Westerveld, Dudek, Kirkland and the fucking likes in nets.
despite having that error shoved back in their faces
I don't think it was an error. Riise had been so poor that season, both at left back and left midfield when he was used in that role, I think supporters were entitled to expect that his replacement would be an improvement, whoever it was. Aurelio might have been better if injuries hadn't stopped him having a decent run in the team and adjusting to the physicality of the Premier League.

Yeah he played Messi well once didnt he? Blah Blah Blah. I also remember him being subbed from LB at half time because he was shit there. Have romantic dreams about him at RB if you will, but stop rewriting history and trying to make him a LB.
i really liked Alvaro - thought he was a terrific defender and very good going forward. He was very composed on the ball and happy to play anywhere..
Dont understand how someone wouldnt like him..

Aurelio would be better suited to water polo or some other gravitationally neutral sport. It's no good saying they could have been something, fitness is one of the attributes you need and he hasn't got it.

obviously at riise very best he is a far better fullback than arbeloa, what I'm saying is I'd rather have arbeloa back at the club 'right now' than riise, as the last time I saw riise in his final year I thought he was awful, whilst arbeloa would likely still be here if he didn't want to return to spain as it was his form that saw him sold.

Neil he has played 10 times the number of games at LB at Réal that he did for us, yet I still wouldn't say he is better than adequate in that roll. You wan't a LB, get a bloody LB not an ok RB masquerading as one.

I'm mostly concerned with a player's current level than how they've performed in the past. going by your criteria you'd have finnan over johnson as finnan's best (several seasons ago) is better than johnson's current level.

It was, because you only bin someone off when you know the replacement will be as good or better.

Arbeloa wanted to leave, so talking about whether he was a good LB or RB or keeper is pointless.

We sacked off Riise for DOSSENA/AURELIO.

Riise has also had good seasons elsewhere since his terrible time with us, and whilst it is Serie A..I think his situation might have been likened to Alonso, who also had some bad months before becoming our best player.

Riise was sacked off and wasnt given the chance; which we only got with Alonso becase noone wanted to buy him at 16 million.

I say what I see and arbeloa in his last season here was solid and dependable, whilst riise was all over the fucking place in his final season with the cherry on the cake being the own goal in the CL. I also saw arbeloa last season for real and he was pretty good for them as well. arbeloa 'right now' would walk into our back line.

Riise in form > Riise at Roma > Arbeloa at RB > Riise off form > Arbeloa at LB > Arbeloa off form and geting clocked by Carra

O say can you see.

ANd enough about the fucking own goal.

Riise has been very good for Roma.

Their fans love him and regard him as a bargain.
