He also got us ejected from Crazy Bear with some astounding two in the morning-style antics. At 8.55 pm. That's pretty impressive

I've been making my mind up about Shelvey ever since he joined and I've decided that he's extremely promising and immensely talented for a player of his age. Everything he does is done with an assured conviction of someone beyond his years, which suggests that he's a player with huge amounts of confidence and self-belief. He's very forward thinking with his play and his passes are crisp, accurate and sharp, and he doesn't mind getting stuck in either and has put in a great level of work-rate in all his appearances so far. He doesn't have great pace, which is the only negative I see in him, but then he's not exactly slow either.

It's almost certain than Jonjo will prove a bargain and that he will go onto be a good footballer for this football club. As for how good he could become it's difficult to say, but very little stopping him from becoming amongst the very best.

I've certainly a lot more confidence in Shelvey now than I did in Lucas' first two seasons. More of these signings please.

In my defence, I watched the second half in a pub in Soho, with a group of scousers. Unfortunately, they were quite keen to throw one of my clients through a window, because he was totally banjaxed. So I had my hands full, and was a bit frazzled.

I don't think anything positive has ever coming from me socializing with clients. It's fraught with danger whatever the fuck you do.

I've got to take one to the States in January for 10 whole fucking days. Le nightmare.

good stuff. unfortunately i haven't *quite* finished formulating my own opinion of the young fellow yet, but i'll be releasing it via twitter as soon as it's ready; it'll also be available on all good liverpool forums.

I like the look of Shelvey, I thought last night though he was too ahead of the play, he looks like he needs to be picking the ball up a bit deeper and picking passes out, instead of playing with his back to goal, I'm very hopeful though.

As you say, his-self belief is mighty impressive. Add that to an assured passing range and vision, a sure touch and an attacking mentality and we've got a surefire 1st team player on our hands here.

What I'm less sure of is his position. He's being played in quite an advanced role at the moment and his lack of pace is telling at times. Given some improvement in the defensive aspect of his play, I'd be looking to play him in the "Alonso" role as a deep lying creative midfielder. He'd need a pretty dynamic CM alongside him though.

He'll certainly have to become more disciplined if he's going to play regularly for us in the first team, but I see no holding midfielder in him, and I'd hate ourselves to force this upon him simply because out short-term needs require it.

Let him learn his trade as a combative, all round CM, with a view to moving him to AM later on his career. From watching him play I think this is where his heart and mind are.

I think SHelvey is definitely going to make it in the Premiership; hopefully it's with us.

Extremely raw, but there's a fine player in there.

You're right that he'll probably not make a DM.

In contrast, whilst we probably have a soft spot for Spearing who certainly has the courage, I don't think he has a future with us.

He isn't "extremely raw" at all.

Quite the opposite mate.
