Reina - 7 - saved a penalty and had no chance on Park's goal. Unfortunate.

Magic - 6 - ok
Carra - 6 - ok
Agger - 5 - WHAT THE HELL were you doing when Valencia broke through? If what the_Khl says is accurate, he's playing injured but still
Insua - 4 - I don't hate Insua, I think he has a future here as a back up LB. But he was raped again and again.

Mascher - 6 - the yellow card hurt him but he's lucky to have stayed on the pitch. Quiet
Lucas - 6 - he wasn't bad but he really fails to add much to games - and going by the Lille performance, it's more because of instructions than because of his desire

Maxi - 6 - meh
Kuyt - 6 - Bar the wonderful pass, he did nothing. I think it's telling Rafa took him off.
Gerrard - 4 - some wonderful balls but that is all. He was poor ... again. He's given up on this season.

Torres - 6 - I would have given him a higher mark but he lost his cool early DESPITE the goal (there goes Ryan's theory) AND he missed 2 very available chances to get another goal (or two).

Aqua - n/a - didn't have much of a chance but it's no surprise our footy improved when he was on the pitch
Babel - n/a - I got off his bandwagon months ago but I think something's changed with him ... He should have come on earlier
Yossi - n/a - could have done better with his chance

Rafa - 4 - It wasn't a 'bad' line up, especially after the goal. BUT why did he stick to it after 30 minutes when it became rather obvious Manure were dominating the game completely. I liked the Kuyt/Maxi switch to neutralize Valencia a lil but still, he waited too long to try and change things up. I wonder if he's quit on this season too ...

Reina (7). Deserves a better team. Hopefully our next manager can give it to him.

Magic (5). Ordinary. Has so much pace and ability, but made too many poor decisions in defence and attack
Carra (6). Did pretty well, knows that defending is the most important part of his job, and while not at his best (not for the first time) still did what he was asked to
Agger (6). Learning some good things from Carra in defence
Insewer (3). Fat fucking Joey.

Maxi (5). Tried hard, but delivered little
Lucarse (3). Utterly fucking anonymous, please God let this mediocre cunt NOT be at my club next season
Masher (5). Snapped around, but created little. Still made at least some presence felt.
Kuyt (6). Did pretty well. Beautiful cross for the goal and never gave up

Gerrard (5). Some flashed of quality, but not often enough and a bit leggy and unsure at times.

Torres (6). Another game, another (beautiful) goal. Missed an easy chance late on, but deserves better.

Benitez (3). Total shithouse

It is a bit unfair to single Insua out as he wasn't the only one found wanting today. The problem is, all of the others have, in the main, at some point, shown that they have 'it'. He hasn't.

I'm not saying we tore up the ManUre defence or anything, far from it, but Torres was served up three guilt-edged opportunities today, which is about as much as you can expect at Old Trafford.

I'm give em all 6/7 bar magic who was awful. The sad thing is bar him player for player they all had an average game, we just dont have a good enough bunch of players.

Can/Will players like Lucas, Insua, Maxi ever play better? average games from average players for me

I'm not bashing Kuyt, I thought he was better than Gerrard. I just don't think he did anything special BAR that pass.
 
I don't want to become collateral damage here. I listened to the game rather than watching it, but at one point the radio five commentator stated that Lucas had been Liverpool's most effective midfield player. Take it with a pinch of salt if you like but that's the view of somebody paid to analyse games.

Kuytr had a very good first half and played a major part in all our attacks in the first 30 minutes. He's worthy of a 6, easily.

In the second half he faded badly and needed to be substituted.

Insua didn't have it easy, because Ferguson, especially after HT, targeted ji. Remember all those cross-field balls Rooney played to Valencia? Not a coincidence. They want as many one-on-ones with him as possible. Why?

Because he's slow, useless and always out of position.
