Insua seems to improve as the game goes on. He attacks a lot better and finishes the game strongly. He put some dangerous balls in and was sound defensively. Encouraging.
Gerrard was looking hungry in the second half and was easily the best player on the pitch in the second half. Once Muamba was released from his stalking duties Gerrard had the chance to attack more and more freely.
Kyrgiakos had another fine 90 mins. Won everything Bolton threw at us in the air and cleared a ball off the line to bail us out. MOTM.
Good to see Dirk scoring again. Hope he is about to go on a run of goals.
Lucas had a fine cameo. Kept the ball well and used it intelligently.
Finally, Masher deserves a mention. I thought he was excellent. Dynamic and aggressive all over the pitch and his passing was a million miles better than his disastrous night at Wolves.

I didn't see the game, but Insua must have been superb for Brendan to give him an 8.

Perhaps I did overrate InSewer because he's usually so fucking dreadful, but he was very good indeed

I'm not so sure.
He had a proper mare today and as well as looking a little lost when he didn't have the ball, not very much came off for him when he did have it.
I suppose these things do come around now and again for players, so let's just call a spade what it is -he wasn't 'average' today... he was shit.

How can Insua go from being absolute rubbish on Tuesday(and a lot of the time) to having an excellent game today. I mean he couldn't pass the ball 10yards on tuesday.

Better performance all round and we shouold have spanked them by more.
Terrible miss by N'Gog, but he worked hard all afternoon. Maxi should have scored as well.
Insua had by far his best game and Gerrard's geting some form back. Masher was quietly affective and Skrtel seems to have got some of his composure back.
Riera although by no means great is so important to us in terms of balance and we've missed him there this season.
Zorba can compete in tha aerial battles but he's no Hyppia. Carragher's lack of pace can make him a worry at RB, but he'll do until such point as we have someone more suited.
Hopefully Kuyt will now be in one of his "more effective" periods and worth his place in the team.
