Insua - 6 - defensively, he was ok. attacking-wise, wasteful
Johnson - 7 - fine
Carra - 6.5 - ok
Greek - 6 - Agger should have played, his pace hurt him a few times.

Lucas - 5 - poor performance here ... again.
Gerrard - 8 - finally put in the performance we're used to seeing from our captain

Yossi - 5.5 - one great pass doesn't take away from the fact he's shite 99% of the time on the left
Kuyt - 6 - I guess Ryan's 'He shows up in all big games' theory is done. Another average display in a must win game from Dirk
Maxi - 7.5 - the best player in the 1st half, and should have scored at least one in the 2nd half

Torres - 6 - didn't look nearly at his best.

Ngog - 6 - Should have scored 3.
Babel - 6 - not bad, should have started
Aqua - n/a - nice to see him finish the game healthy!

Rafa - 4 - poor starting line up and taking Torres off, despite the chances that came afterward was not the right decision. You don't take him off unless he's injured in a must win game.

Reina - 7 - 1 mistake under a cross, aside from that his distribution was excellent and he tried deperately to initiate counter attacks early whenever possible, genuinely wouldnt swap Pep for anybody

Insua - 6 - wasteful in posession and had a few decent oppurtunities to get crosses in, reasonably solid at the back given that Yossi offered him no cover what so ever

Johnson - 7 - Probably our best crosser of a ball, got forward well and tried to offer some deperately needed width

Carra - 7 - Reasonable day at the office for Carra, untroubled for most of the game, handled Jerome well

Greek - 6 - Sadly lacking in the sort of passing range that makes Aggers ommision so baffling for a must win game, didnt do anything wrong though

Lucas - 5 - Awful, he really is a non event in midfield. Tactically unaware of his position, unable to link play. No real passing game, doesnt drive forward well and gives away possesion in alarming positions. His continued inclusion is as baffling as it is infuriating

Gerrard - 7 - First half drifted past him in one of his invisible moods, well taken goal but doesnt seem to have the spirit required to drive the team anymore, his position as captain must be considered this summer

Yossi - 5 - Always wants one touch too many, never covers his defensive position, over elaborate and lacking in any sort of forward penetration, on this form he doesnt merit a place in the first 11

Kuyt - 5 - What is there left to say, he really doesnt bring alot to the party, has neither pace nor the skill to play wide, had no influence on the game at all. Hes become the emblem of Rafa's cautious myopia

Maxi - 5 - Slow, ponderous and wasted 3 of the best chances in the game, brings others into play well and...thats about it, adds very little to the team, another one of Rafas blind spots

Torres - 6 - The expression on his face as he trudged off was barely concealed contempt, and he wasnts alone Gerrard was just as open in his complete lack of faith in the managers misuse of Torres. That said it wasnt vintage stuff from him and he is developing a worrying habit of drifting out of away matches

Subs:

Ngog - 5 - Had the oppurtunity a top young striker dreams of, coming off the bench to rescue his team in a must win game with a series of good chances. Unfortunately he is not a top young player and he wasted all of them
Babel - 6 - Ran at people and created space for others, its easy to see why Rafa doesnt like him
Aqua - 5 - No real impact, his inclusion after the midweek doubts cast over his season was another odd move in a continuingly bizarre man management saga

Rafa - 3 - I think he played his last card today, cowardly negative and lacking in any sort of ambition, and that was before he made the decision which will surely be viewed in years to come as the one that cost him 4th place and his job. On a personal level I like Rafa and wish him well but I no longer want him anywhere near the club.

Reina (6). Another flappy moment, but left totally exposed for the goal

Insewer (3). One of his better displays actually
Carra (4). Looks as desperate as the rest of us about who he has to play with. Below average.
Zorba (5). Pretty ordinary. He is about as pacy as an Easter Island statue, and his passing is about as good. Was Agger injured?
Magic (4). Got forward well and added some much-needed pace and width, but nothing came of most of his forays forward and he still has so much to learn about positioning himself defensively.

Maxi (5). So fucking slow, but does have a footballing brain. Wasted our best chances. Until Pineapple Eggnog arrived.
Gerrard (7). Great goal. Great player. Shame that he played in midfield by himself
Lucarse (n/a). I'm sick of watching this fucking scoper play for my team. Just fuck off you massive, massive useless fucking cunt.
Casper (2). The Israeli Ghost was invisible again. I hope he fucks off this summer.

Kuyt (3). Great display against Benfica. Dismal today.

Torres (4). Had a pretty torrid time, but shouldn't have been taken off.

Eggnog (2) A laughable excuse for a footballer. Jesus fucking Christ, we would PISS ourselves if this flid ever played for one of our rivals

Reina 6.5 - Nothing notable to do but pick the football out of his net

Magic 7.5 - Excellent in the latter stages when given more of a license to go at Brum, quality crosses, and the Brum full-backs were shit scared

Stavros 6.5 - Did his job

Carra 7 - Cut out a few potentially sticky situations, got a bit lucky with Bowyer fluffing his lines

Insua 4 - Bad going forward and added nothing defensively

Gerrard 7 - Great goal, great pass to N'Gog, otherwise well below his best again. Looks very de-motivated.

Lucas 5 - Nothing added, nothing taken away

Kuyt 4 - I love him, but add this to most of his performances this season as completely ineffective

Maxi 7 - Thought he was easily the standout in the first-half, faded and missed some guilt edged chances, but the effort was there

Yossi 4 - Non-event

Torres 5 - Bit of a non-event, but a few promising moments such as the cross for Maxi's chance

Rafa - No point in really in rating him today, no Agger, Masch, starting Benayoun over Babel on the left wing, leaving Kuyt on and taking Torres off. In his defence, Babel and N'Gog were very effective substitutions to our attacking play, but as covered, Babel should've started, and N'Gog should've replaced Kuyt. Aquilani N/A.

Carra 5 - wasn't tested regularly, still a little shaky tho

Greek 6 - played pretty well

Insua 4 - not his worst performance, still makes atleast half a dozen mistakes every game mind

Kuyt 5 - bright in spells, frustrating in others

Gerrard 5 - pathetic 1st half, lovely goal and some nice passing 2nd half. still a shadow of his former self

Lucas 4 - meh. not good, not bad. decent last 20 minutes

Benayoun 3 - love the little fella but he's had a mare of a season, shouldn't be played left mid.. END OF!!

Torres 3 - something's not quite with the main man, went missing again.
