I give Rafa a B+

Room for improvement with his signings and plan B.

Other than that, top notch effort, freak of a season by Utd.

as far as im concerned as long as Benitez is qualifying for the CL relatively easily like he is then I could care less if we win the league or not

Proceed to your nearest mental health professional.

what is defeatist? so if we dont win it, we should huff and puff and look for a new manager?

load of rubbish. he is qualifying for the CL easily, that is enough for me and I hope for the directors

I'll give him a B.

It's been a good effort, but the summer we had was too awful to give him anything higher. Still, had we have thrown caution to the wind (as we did in the latter stages of the season) earlier, we'd have won the title. Shame.

Mad innit. I mean proper fucking bonkers. I'm leaving this thread and not coming back because I know in a few posts time, when Rebel has made an even bigger plonker of himself but defends his position to the hilt, I'll want to smash something to bits or hunt him down and administer a long pain upon his person.

as far as im concerned as long as Benitez is qualifying for the CL relatively easily like he is then I could care less if we win the league or not, it would be nice but to expect/demand it is silly and unrealistic for example as spider says one loss at old trafford next season could kill the dream. can we do it? absolutely but the margins are thin at the top.

I'm happy with the current level of the team and all that matters is qualifying for the CL to keep the bandwagon rolling

therefore, I give him an A.

[/quote]

So would you be happy with just another 5 years of CL football, but no trophies rebel?

H1 B
H2 B+

It should be noted he was still making hideously twatish mistakes at the beginning of the season and improved dramatically in the 2nd half.

I can remember the plethora of threads on here bashing him senseless, even during stint at the top of the table.

yes, i'd be perfectly happy if the level of the team is ok. missing out on trophies by narrow margins is not a sackable offence and qualifying for the CL when city and others are spending huge sums is no bad thing.

we would have to be unfortunate though to go that long without a trophy.

Oh Rabble, you unfortunate cretin. You've set yourself up for one of the greatest wallopings in 6CM history.

lets hear it then, so if we get 86 points for the next 3 seasons but dont win a trophy, we should sack Benitez? is that what people are suggesting?

To be honest, I think he may have left everyone so speechless it could be like some kind of superduper shoryuken special move that is impossible to counter.

The very fact that he doesn't even get what is wrong with his initial statement makes it even scarier

that not what you said, you said you'd be happy with a top four finish every season, you didn't mention 86 points.

Don't be changing what you said Rebel. They used to section people like you. Fucking liberal namby pambys have fucked this country up.

I said qualifying for the CL relatively easily = musn't grumble, what don't you understand?

so if we finish with 86 points or 84 points every season for the next 3 seasons and win nothing, should we throw our toys out the pram and sack the manager? the scenario is entirely possible.

86 out of 114 points leaves a LOT of improvement possible you hysterical turd gobbler.

So if Scum got 94, Chavs 89, Arse 87 and we got 86 for the next 3 seasons, you would be satisfied?

No i wouldnt be too pleased with a CL qualifier and that scenario is most unlikely

I honestly recommend that everyone just walks away from this thread. If you don't you'll end up with some really dark, twisted and malovelent thoughts running through your head.

you said

you could do that with securing 70+ points you didn't mention a season in season out tally in the high 80's. the difference between the two is chalk and cheese.

the key phrase "like he is", we have just finished with 86 points and qualified for the CL weeks ago. that is good enough for me

what is the alternative position? sacking a manager for narrowly missing out on trophies is not very clever

well I wouldn't go as far as rebel as to say I'd be happy with JUST a top four finish every season, surely that is the MINIMUM requirement. my personal opinion is I want a league challenge every season by that I mean being within 4 points of the eventual winners (if we can't win it ourselves) you keep that level of consistancy year in year out eventually you'll win the league. wanting nothing more than a top four finish every season is the ambition of villa or the bitters.

Real do it and they win trophies.

Barca did it last season and they're on course for a treble.

Chelsea did it and they're in a cup final.

Etc. etc.

I never said "top 4 finish" I said "QUALIFYING FOR THE CL RELATIVELY EASILY LIKE HE IS"

there is a huge difference.

if we had a shit campaign and just scraped 4th then i'd consider the position of manager, if we have CL wrapped up weeks ago like we just have then you musn't grumble in my opinion. narrowly missing out on trophies is not a sackable offence

Real, Barce and Chelsea spend absurd levels of money so can afford the instability. Barce spent €70 million euro's last summer and signed a full back for €30 million yet you think we can adopt short termist attitudes on a much smaller budget

Look, never mind sackable offence or any of that shit, let's just sling the whole sacking issue altogether.

Fundamentally, you are happy not to be winning anything, as long as we qualify for Champions League - yes?
