Rafa confirmed as new Chelsea boss

He's been going on for so long now about his 'staff'. It's only now I wonder how much he's been paying these people. His payroll must be huge. Maybe he thinks a few months being outrageously overpaid will keep Team Rafa topped up.

I've read and heard people go on about how it will be emotional when he returns to Anfield.

Emotional? It makes me want to fucking vomit. It's a fucking game of footy isn't it?

Hahahahahaha, yep. The cunts at sky want to turn everything into a fucking soap opera & most editors are treating them like the rats to murdocks pied piper.

It's infuriating, it's a fucking game of kick about, that's it, stop trying to nail your bullshit to it.

After 2 years out of the game I think emotions about Liverpool was the last thing on his mind.

I know, there's too much drama. It's tiring. I just want to see the team in Red score more goals than the other team please. I'm too old for this melodrama over H and G/ Kenny / Suarez/ Torres / Rogers / Roy - I mean it's been quite a dramatic few years @ L4

Stop or I'll do the one about Jimmy Savile being able to finish Young Boys off

Jimmy only done young girls.

Edit: He wasn't a fucking pervert.

I know, I know, this would have been so much funnier if I had written that second line the first time.

However, the former Liverpool boss feels it is likely that Cole and Lampard will be on their way from the European champions when the England internationals' contracts expire next summer.
Asked directly if it was the end for the pair at Chelsea, Benitez said: "I think so, that is the case at the moment.
"I am only here for seven months. If it is for two or three years then maybe I would have an influence."
"Sometimes you are in a difficult position as manager because there's too much to decide on, so it's better to have a technical director sometimes."

ha - does that no go against everything he did at us and said at valencia ? Learning from past mistakes or talking shite like 99% of managers ?

Oh and he says 7 months there .

Not arsed. Two groups of people that I hate getting pissed off - RAWK mentalists and Chelsea fans. I'm made up.

I don't blame him for taking the job.

Hopefully he fucks it right up and they miss out on CL footy.

Edit

*Bets on Torres being top league scorer*

On the Torres point, those who definitely don't want him back at LFC can breathe a sigh of relief. Even if that ever *was* a possibility, it'll never happen now. If Rafa gets him back to his best, they'll never sell him to us. If even Rafa doesn't manage it, we'll know nobody can.

I doubt he'll get him back to his best, but he'll definetly get in to some form now. That is bound to happen imho.

Rafa said Lampard and Cole will most likely leave at the end of the season aswell.

I don't think it's as straightfoward as all that. Rafa got Torres playing brilliantly within a certain system and certain players around him. Rafa may well decide that it's not worth rejigging the Chelsea team to get the most out of Torres when he can just buy another top class striker in January, which Chelsea seem hellbent on doing regardless.

Even when Torres was at his peak, it was observable from his performances in the Spanish national side that he only really thrives in a certain kind of system. I think Chelsea was the wrong move for him and he better than anyone must realize that. . He'll never be as good as he was regardless of systems because his game needs that explosive burst that he had and it's just not going to come back. He is still a good player though and he should go find a team where he can start enjoying his football again and prove that.

As someone else on here said the other day, it's always sad to see great talent go to waste and now that the bitterness has subsided, I think it would be good to see Torres do well again (as long as it's not at Chelsea).

It always amazes me when people get het up about what Benitez may or may not do.

It's like they say he couldn't manage his way out of a paper bag but feel the need to diss him just in case he 'lucks out' yet again and wins another trophy.

Alex Ferguson is a classic case, can't figure out why he's so worried to take a sly dig when an opportunity arises. He could have had some class and wished him well like Mourinho.

I don't really think he'd fail significantly, but there are so many issues that just seem to suggest this might be dead in the water. He likes full control of everything, he has a hierarchy there who have zero patience and a huge say in who's on the playing staff.

The flip side is that Rafa works well with a ready made squad. He works well in competitions where everything is against him (their CL group) and he may just feel a bit less pressure with the contractual agreement, where it's provisionally until the end of the season and everyone knows who their real managerial target is. So he might feel less inclined to shackle the side and that's when we see the best of him.

One of the main issues for Chelsea at the moment is defensive instability. Luiz isn't good enough at the back, Terry is struggling and Mikel is a poor DM. So what we might see is a reshuffle (or purchase) at the back, Luiz moving into a less pressured DM role and someone else like Mikel alongside him, to give them stability and grit in midfield. That would be the perfect springboard for a three in behind Torres/Drogba, with Mata likely to get the 'Gerrard' role to feed Nando.

It's not a write off by any means. I don't want him to do well because I don't want Chelsea to do well, it's nothing personal. I think there are plenty of reasons why he can succeed there, but the knives are out from the off and it's how he wins them over in this initial pressured state.

I can see it now..

Benitez leads Chelsea to the title, but Roman has made it known he will not extend his contract as the appointment of Guardiola is imminent..

Meanwhile Liverpool have Sacked Brendon Rogers after finishing 8th in the league and failing to qualify for Europe..

Do we go for Rafa.. pressure is on the board to reinstate him as manager as the Kop have been singing his name...

Kenny says in the Mirror today that Torres had already decided to leave when he took over.

I prefer to see more ambitious step from the owners to sack BR before the window opens and sign Guardiola. Rafa would not solve our problems.

Neither would guadiola

Rafa was given the chance for 6 years to win us the PL trophy and he failed. So get a new fresh manager in and a manager who have the experience at the highest level and know how to win trophies. In football everything is a gamble.
