Punditry Bias

Either disingenuous or unwilling to face the possibility. I don't think it is, or causes, a major problem, but I do think it does happen.

Compared with the other two 1-0 wins, ours sounded the most undeserved. Go figure.

Oliver Kay is a self admitted Utd fan. However he has always written well of Liverpool

I must say, though, that I'm genuinely 100% confident that if you showed last Soccer Saturday's preview sequence to any open-minded supporter of ANY club and asked them which game seemed odd, they'd pick ours. That was an outrageous discussion, like something out of a schoolyard, and it's just disingenuous to claim such things don't happen fairly regularly.

That was indeed an outrageous discussion. The input from that little fucker Cottee was so biased. Then he predicted a narrow win for us.

However I wonder if Thommo wasnt there would the questioning be so intense

Don't get it here. What was the preview sequence ?

It's the bit where that grinning mong Jeff Stelling and the studio panel, which usually includes Thommo, sit around at lunchtime discussing the prospects for the big games and predicting the results.  It frequently turns into a Thommo-baiting session but this one was worse than ever, a clearly pre-planned and concerted ambush.

I'm afraid I'm convinced Thommo himself is part of the problem.  Bless him, he's not the most articulate, and the way he stumbles along searching for the right words would make him easy meat at the best of times.  That said, he doesn't usually appear on Sky's other coverage and that doesn't stop them concentrating their bile on LFC.

They must have a little bloke in a room somewhere just compiling LFC stats. They all had specially prepared lists last Saturday about Liverpool's spending over the past five years, with all kinds of details that they all bombarded Thompson with. And the thing was, there was no reason for it. It wasn't as if anyone had spoken about spending during the week, Stelling just launched into it (ignoring, conveniently, the shite squad we had when Thommo was last there), and then went on to zonal marking, rotation, player disaffection, Alonso, the stadium, the Americans, the tactics...on and on and on. It was absurd. And all of that after a really brief and cheerful discussion of Arsenal!

Absolutely right, and yet they never turn on that p!sshead or any of the clubs he played for, which underlines the point.

The Thommo getting picked on thing is just a running gag because he's just so in love with LFC.

He's not a natural wit as such and wears his heart on his sleeve (remember him banging on the glass in Istanbul ?)

I don't take it too seriously.

The rest of those on the panel would love to have half is medal collection.
