Provisional XI for Arsenal....

Klopp said Matip will definitely be ready for Arsenal. I'm 99% certain he is Klopp's #1 CB and he'll get a run out to prove his fitness vs. Barca or Mainz.

So Matip and Lovren or Matip and Ragnar ? I'd go with Ragnar.

Up front I agree with Brendan ... Sturridge should start though I'd expect to see Origi come on at some time.

I don't doubt who his longterm partnership is, but Klopp isn't stupid either, he's not going to watch Lovren play the whole of preseason, while Matip has had a stop/start preparation and then just throw him in anyway.

Arsenal fans seem to think this may be the team to face us considering Gabriel, Koscielny, Wilshire, Cazorla etc. are all injured and unlikely to be ready for us. However note that neither Sanchez nor Ramsey have returned to the club yet and if Wenger's history is anything to go by he may well leave them out as starters. Campbell and Elneny their replacements.

I think the most likely team against Liverpool is the following:

-------------Walcott---------------

Sanchez------Iwobi------------Ox
----------Ramsey-Xhaka---------
Gibbs-Monreal-Holding-Bellerin
-------------Cech-----------------

Well Matip was in pre-season training right from the beginning (almost ?) so it's only a couple of weeks out and it's not as if he's not been doing any training at all. He'll get at least another full week and a full game to prove he's fit.

No way they're playing three at the back with Walcott in goal.

I can quite honestly say that will not be the team. I don't think Walcott will start up front, Iwobi won't start, nor will Ox. I think I read Gabriel is back. more likely to be:

------Giroud (/new signing)-------
Sanchez------Ozil------------Walcott
----------Ramsey-Xhaka---------
Gibbs-Gabriel-Chambers-Bellerin
-------------Cech-----------------

If Gabriel is aback then of course he'll slip into the middle and Monreal will go to LB (Gibbs out). However they seem quite adamant that Ramsey will more than likely not start and maybe Sanzhez too, neither are even back at the club yet. I wonder why they left Ozil and Giroud out, maybe neither of them are expected back for a while ? I need to investigate this.

Yeah after further enquiries with Arse fans they seem pretty confident that neither Ozil nor Giroud will start due to fitness. Both on the bench. Sanchez up front has been touted though.

Sanchez is appaz out aswell.

But it doesnt really matter. We should just concentrate on ourselves:

Ming
Clyne Matip Lovren Milner
Can Henderson
Mane Firmino Coutinho
Sturridge

If Matip isnt fit then Klavan. If Origi is boss against Barca then maybe start him.

Yeah I'm not buying the "not fit" malarkey coming out of the Arsenal forums. You play your best players for 60 minutes and replace them if they aren't match fit. I fully expect Ozil, Giroud and Sanchez to start,

Wenger has history here though. He has often left his top players out if deemed not ready, it's not about playing them for 60 mins, it's about preventing injury and ruling them out for weeks or months.

-----------------Ming-------------------
Clyne----Lovren--Ragner--??????
----------Hendo---Can---------------
--Mane------Firmino------Coutinho
---------------Origi---------------------

Yep, that's what I think too.

I think Sturridge will start. He has to, he's our best player. Klopp likes Firmino, but I think he misses out this time to Sturridge and Origi.

Probably Milner in place of "??????". Matip to start if fit.
