Your underestimating the cost of your purchases Oncy. Bent moved to Sunderland for 10 million rising up to 16.5 million based on appearances etc. After the season he has had why would they sell him to us for 15 million.

You wont get Silva or Navas for 20. 25-30 is the bare minimum. Both of them are well settled in Spain and play for clubs which are doing well. Neither of them are that desperate to move other than maybe Real or Barca. Neither players have shown a desire to move to England. Also the management of Valencia and Sevilla are hard negotiators.

I do agree with your general sentiment that we need a fast and pacy striker and attacking threats. I have no idea about the strikers though. I would love Bent but I dont think Sunderland would sell him to us. As for attacking players I would go for Turan over Silva and Navaz. He will be cheaper and more value for money and I think he might be better for a PL club than Silva or Navaz.

I'll tell you, 7 league goals between them, kuyt has 9 but they are more effective at hurting teams because they have the ability to give the ball to the striker faster and have the abiity to open up teams.

I'd be thinking along similar lines to you. We're not a top four team any more, and the chances of us getting back up there given the fact that City will spend heavily again this summer are getting slimmer. It's unlikely we're going to get back into the top four after one transfer window regardless of who the manager is.

If we tear it all down, get rid of the manager and offload some of the more expensive players entering the final third of their careers I'd be okay with that, Provided the new man is asked to develop his own talent at the club and bring through those who are on the cusp already, like Pacheco, and make sensible additions to the squad with the view to challenging for more than fourth a couple of years down the line.

kuyt wouldn't be happy with being a squad player. kuyt is rafa's heskey, plays regardless of form when he moved down the pecking order he moved on. kuyt is a decent player but I would get a specialist player for a wide position at the very least someone who can take people on and beat them.
