Date and time: 8:00pm (GMT) Thursday 2nd January

4 days rest with a bunch of players looking knackered after the Wolves game.
Does Klopp rotate?
I doubt it. I think 4 days will be sufficient enough to put on a decent performance against Sheffield.

Personally, I think Klopp will chance it with the FA cup game against Everton. That's when we'll see a lot of changes.

Team?

Alisson

TAA
Gomez
VD
Robbo

Hendo
Wijnaldum
Keita

Salah
Mane
Firmino

I agree he’ll have one last roll of the dice with 10 of today’s starters. Wholesale changes for the blue shite.

Trent and Robbo looked fucked.

I couldn’t care less about the FA Cup when we have the best chance of winning the league in so so long. Regardless of the others on the 1st, I’d still heavily rotate. It’s a derby and I don’t want any injuries and we need to keep players as fresh and healthy as possible for the league.
Yeh they have a decent manager now, but we still have ample ability in the second string to make a good few changes and still beat them. What they may lack in superstar quality compared to the first team they will easily make up with eagerness and energy.
I wouldn’t play the league cup team, but I’d certainly change a good few.

I expect same team except Keita for Lallana. I liked the shape today and it have Adam a free role, in the future i think that would work nicely with Minamino in that role and Fabs in for one of Hendo or Gini.

Also wouldn’t be against starting Div in the front three.

We dont have the squad to chop and change too much, None of the injured will be back for this or Everton.

Team for Sheffield - Alisson Trent Gomez Virgil Robertson Milner Lallana Keita Origi Firmino Mane

Just so glad we are playing this lot at home and not away. Given the squad depth right now, the fact that it is at home may get us through with a victory.

We need some changes. It’s all very well saying they can recover in 4 days but the accumulative effect is beginning to show and it is surely increasing chances of injury.

I watched Sheffield Utd vs City. They were unlucky but play quite similar to Wolves but without the pace. I think Williams would be OK in there with Gomez covering. Williams is also pacey so I don’t see an issue.

If we get into a comfortable position then I’d sub off Robbo after 70 mins move Milner to LB (could also start here since SU lack place) bringing Hendo on. Ditto Mane & Salah for anyone!

............................ Becker

Williams .... Gomez ....... VvD ...... Robbo

.................... Gini ........... Milner

............................. Keita

Mane ................... Salah ........... Origi

Bench incs: TAA, Firmino & Hendo.

When is this Fabinho fella coming back? Minamino should be able to have a taste of the league for this match as a sub, but knowing Klopp he would keep him away for a month or so training with the boys, Sheff Utd not an easy team to play against, I can see them putting up a better fight than Leicester, just like Wolves. We need our forward to stay sharp and clinical.

Shouldn't bother these boys with the FA Cup, just play the stronger side in the league.

Go full strength tomorrow and half against Everton. The blue shite are really shite.

We have to be careful. So many teams losing players to injuries now. We need to balance the desire to win with our strongest side and resting players to prevent injuries.

Hopefully SU are just as tired.

We’ve had an extra day over Christmas and an extra day now, that makes a lot of difference in regards to these tired muscle injuries.
Newcastle played something like 4 games in 10 days with a small squad, and then get 4 injuries today. Crazy.

Something has to be done with the fixture list next season.

I think Klopp will do strongest team once more for this then rotate heavily against Everton. By heavily, I mean four or five, not quite playing the kids.

Massive Divock is being kept fresh for the FA Cup... so as he can fuck Everton again.

Fuck the regular front three - give them a rest, I want Shaq, Div, and Ninja to be up front, and I ain't talking about our resident Ninja on this site, the real one we have from Japan now !!!

Who isn't eligible yet.

Full strength, try to burst them early, sub off anyone the training staff have doubts about as soon as we've got a two goal lead.

The Everton game is the one to rotate, this one needs a stromg team out. Sheffield Utd will be even more knackered than us with a smaller squad so if we can keep the intensity high for the first 45 mins we should be able to break them down. Subs at the ready as soon as it looks like the game is won.
