Pre Match Pre Match - Brentford (A) - Sat 15:00

I've seen szob and Jones haven't been good enough recently, so yeah I'll hype Elliott, why not. Same as I'll hype Danns.

He was a load of shite, no qualms there.

My issue with szob is the exact issue I had with hendo and wijnaldum. Very rarely is he the reason we play well. When a few players are on song he miraculously looks better. Because he's a water carrier and that's it. He moves the ball from a to b and then shits himself near the box. He doesn't create, he doesn't assist and he barely scores.

He runs and pressures though, something Jones hasn't been doing

Doesn't create but only two players in the team (Salah and Trent) have created more big chances then him.
You'd think people would watch players before making up opinions and not make them up because of negative bias.

Not even that for me. We have to win games where we're the better team. It's fucking redundant playing well if we don't kill a game
Well in that case we have to win every game in the league. There are some games where a draw is an acceptable result, although yesterdays result wasn't that great.

I've watched every game hansern. how did he create those big chances? I'd like to see them. Because I'll I've seen is him run in to the box and try to square it and failing it more often than not. He is not creative. He is the tip of the midfield so he SHOULD be creating chances; but I refuse to believe it's down to individual skill or creativity, because he's not shown individual skill or creativity.

I'll slate the shit out of Salah for 89 minutes and then he'll do some mad trivela and it'll be sumptuous.

Szob is exactly the same as fucking Henderson, but without the leadership quality

Week by week we're accruing more and more "must win" games by fucking up others. It's a worrying trend
I think we’re just not so competent in front of goal. Last night, I thought “… had that been Wood, he’d have scored” a couple of times. I’m hoping it’s not Salah’s inevitable fall of a cliff edge and Diaz’s decision making has dipped alarmingly.

Is this the list for big chances?

32nd in the league. 10 behind Salah, 6 behind Trent, 1 ahead of Macca and cody (who has scored and assisted more)

Jeepers that's 70m well spent

Ok.

Szobs not even the issue anyway (though none of our mids are helping ATM)

We're cut open too easily due to the full backs being shite, gravy isn't as good as he was a few months ago. Our forwards look like they've never played together, and we've only got 1 striker who the manager trusts.

Slot needs to utilise all the squad, reward good performances and drop people who aren't performing

Endo should start next game, Jota should start next game. Chiesa and Elliott should get some minutes

I'm not sure I agree with that comparison. Hendo + Wijnauldum - certainly at their best - gave us the platform to play well.

As for Szobo and Jones, the problem is that neither is consistent enough - evidenced by the yo-yoing of support for both on here. You never know whether you're going to get a 5/10 or an 8/10 performance and that's not good enough. They've both had enough time / chances to prove otherwise. MacAllister, for all the love he gets, also has a few too many off days for my liking.

If we were being ruthless - which would actually necessitate signing players so no chance of that but hey ho - we'd be looking to bring in another midfielder to relegate both to a semi-permanent spot on the bench.

There is an unbelievable amount of hating on our players. Shouldnt believe that we are first in just about every competition and its mid January.
The general feeling and vibe is so far from a club in our position.

Maybe this site just has lost its path and purpose.

We've hit our blip, so understandably people are frustrated; especially when during that blip we've been unable to muster up a first half performance for a few weeks.

If you're moaning about the state of the site; what do you want? Everyone happy clappy and no discussions or variance of opinion? This sites wide array of opinions has always been it's strength. If you want RAWK, go to RAWK.

it is the fear
Exactly

We've had a gap at the top a few times, and complacency always Costs us. It's like that scene on interstellar. We know what happens so we're kicking off

People would all be panicking if other teams could put something together. Arsenal aren't in good form and I expect them to be four points off us after today. It's not that it's the end of the world, it's just that I hoped we would push on and settle this earlier. Doing so makes the rest of the season and the rest of the competitions easier. I don't want arsenal hanging around with a game a week later this season while we drag ourselves through a marathon.

It's not this last game either, I think we win it more often than not. The United game was a hard one for me to take and it's the succession of dropped points across several games now.

We should be looking to bring in a midfielder too. Gravy is playing an absolute fuck ton.

I haven't seen us play a team this season who I thought were better than us (closest was probably Arsenal away, with Saka). There've been games when we were below par and didn't win (as convincingly) as we should have done, including most of the games we drew. But honestly, I feel like a functioning Liverpool team is better than any other team in any of the competitions we've played in so far this year.
That's miraculous.

Arsenal away were a better team than us with a worse manager.

I agree with the point in general though, it's just I don't think it's miraculous. We were a good team before. We've been a good team for a long time bar injury crises. We've also been a great team that would piss this league this year. We aren't that.

I want this league. It's there for us. We are beginning to do it the hard way. Or, we may not do it.

By the way, that doesn't mean all our players are shit.

We haven't really figured out an attack that is elite yet, but that's because we lack some of the pieces of that puzzle and it's all a little piecemeal or improvised. The fact that we keep talking about a firmino role when we are talking about jota and Diaz says it all. When we are talking about that player, and not the player before him, we will have something.

We lose this game 3-1

I want Nunez to start like last season - at least his size and pace will disrupt them somewhat.

I don't think any eventual winner goes through a season without this sort of spell, the main thing is we don't know when we're beaten, we just drive on and on regardless and that's why we've mustered a few points when we've arguably not deserved it and I think that will stand us in good stead.

We definitely need to buy, but I doubt we will, because the owners will argue this squad has got us where we are (which is true). They've never been ones for recognising we need reinforcements and acting on it quickly, it's always been an "it is what it is" stance until we can get to the Summer. When we've bought in January over the last few years has it ever really ever been to consolidate a challenge? It's always been more because an opportunity to buy someone a bit earlier has occurred, for one reason or another.

Slot can rest Gravenberch by playing Endo, he's just chosen not too. The same can be said in other positions too. He's giving the three contract players a wide berth and as much game time as he can, when arguably they are the next few players who need a breather. If we lose the title it won't be because we didn't buy, it'll be because we didn't make the best of the squad that we have at our disposal.

I don’t get why Trent was so highly thought of last night. His passing was way off. Corners shite. And still got beat a few times.

Bradley has to come in. Jota starts. The rest of the side picks itself.

I think he needs to figure out how to get chiesa minutes to manage Salahs.

On the Endo one, I think that slot is actually correct that Endo can't do what slot wants a midfielder to do, not really. He can definitely do something, though.

In both cases it's hard in this sort of game though. If we keep making ourselves chase games it's much harder to get players a rest. Keep clean sheets and we can manage things much better.

Agreed. He was (slightly) better than he has been and there were a few times he was sprinting back to help, but the quality with the ball was mostly shite.
