Power shift across the park

There's a kind of precedent in that Danny Murphy made similar remarks when he was leaving Liverpool and clearly wanted to stay in the area if he could.

How good of a manager is he these days anyway?
After Newcastle and managing in China. Outdated in terms of fighting with the big boys?

I can’t say that I would be THAT bothered if Benitez goes to Everton. He is a professional football manager first and foremost and I don’t expect him to turn down jobs just because he used to be Liverpool manager.

I still don’t think it will work out though. If he has the time and the money he might get them a trophy or get them into Europe but the Everton fans probably won’t be that patient, especially if we bounce back next season.

He also has a pretty crappy track record with owners of clubs doesn’t he? Everton seem to pretty much go through a manager a year. That doesn’t suggest that the owners are amazing, does it? He will have fallen out with them by Christmas.

I really can't see Rafa going to Everton after all of his history and love of Liverpool. Regardless of whether he has a home here or not. He'd never be accepted by a majority of their fans either. No chance he'll go there, none.

This aged as well as the rest of your posts.

I can't say I'm that arsed really. If it makes him happy to be in a City that he clearly loves. I can understand that. He's a professional. Rafa place is solid in the hearts of the Reds so I'm sure from our end it's be fine. The blue half though.... Well that's a different story. Popcorn at the ready...

I can't wait for some journo to ask at the first press conference ... " So Rafa, why have joined a small club?"

I'll always love him for what he did with us, and for his continued support for justice etc. His family live there. They love the city. He's a professional manager. There's no way he shouldn't take that job if offered. He's managed Chelsea, Newcastle, Inter, Real and some no-marks in China since.
Not bothered if he takes the job one bit.

Absolutely this.
Of course, I don't have to live close to and interact with fans of the bitters, and that might make me more open to the idea.

Just in passing, the title of this thread is easy to misread and reminded me of a newspaper typo I saw quoted in "Private Eye" many years ago: "Dead-eye Stewart Fraser, playing for the League of Scotland against the League of Ireland, tried a shit from twenty yards which ended up nearer the corner flag than the goal".

Impressive power shit.

Unfortunately there are thousands more that will echo this ridiculous sentiment. If they do appoint Rafa it will be over within the season. Every defeat will be held up as some sort of red conspiracy.

Yeah, chances are that it will end prematurely.
