Disagree with the last bit. We were in a good position to make big moves in the market with FSG having just taken over and IMHO Ancelotti would have been an excellent choice at that stage. The fact that he'd have gone about it radically differently from Klopp doesn't mean he wouldn't have succeeded.
Big moves? Disagree with that.
Any big signing, Klopp’s done through player sales. His net spend is ridiculous.

Just as Klopp and Ancelotti are very different managers I'm betting they would have been looking for different things from the owners. Klopp was used to working under similar conditions in Germany before he came to us, whereas my bet is that Ancelotti wouldn't have been appointed at all without agreement for significant initial spending. It would all have depended on how badly the owners wanted him - if he'd been their choice they'd have backed him in the market.

Didn't FSG own us for five years when Rodgers was sacked? I did remember reading somewhere that during the interview, Ancelotti said we needed significant investments whereas Klopp was more excited by the potential.

I highly doubt we would have won the league with Ancelotti. His league record is not that great given the quality of squads he had from 1999 to 2017. Didn't win the league with Juve, only once with the great Milan team over 8 years, didn't win the league with Madrid also.

Europe is a different kettle. He might have very well won us number 6 with a decent amount of investment.

That was my take. Ancellotti was the known quantity but wanted significant transfer guarantees. Klopp just said yes.

Fucking love Jurgen. Let’s all remember the Hodgson days and continue to thank our god/s

First para: fair point. I should have omitted "just". I guess it felt/still feels that way after effectively two wasted decades leading up to their takeover.

Second para: possibly so, but the main thing we'd initially have needed from him was a rebuild and, as I've said, had he actually been appointed I reckon he'd have succeeded with that.

Remember when Rodgers was sacked Ancelotti's name was right up there with Klopp.

Thank goodness we went Klopp. Nothing against Carlo, but it seems to me his main strength is getting a bunch of superstars into a team together and making it work practically. He was never right for Everton, and wouldn't have been right for us.
Yes, I remember that and wondering why we would ever consider him over Klopp. Even good old 'arry was claiming he had it on good authority we had made a move for Ancelotti first but were rebuffed. Ancelotti himself denied we had ever approached him.

I really can't see Rafa going to Everton after all of his history and love of Liverpool. Regardless of whether he has a home here or not. He'd never be accepted by a majority of their fans either. No chance he'll go there, none.

He went to Chelsea FFS.

Not that I'd begrudge him. His missus has always stayed in caldy and it would be much more handy for him than China or whatever

It takes two to tango and I reckon the hatred from the blue side far outweighs whether Benitez is willing to go there or not.

I wouldn't begrudge him if he went there. He will be lucky to last a season so I hope he negotiates a large pay out clause because the bitters will never ever accept him.

Moshiri is trending on twitter because Everton fans are fuming with the potential appointment of Nuno.

I honestly don't think they understand the level they're at. Nuno would be a good appointment

Yeah, Nuno would be great. Seems to have a decent style of play. Can develop a squad. Seems like a decent dude too.

What do they want?

Most deluded fans in the world, Nuno would be a fantastic coup for them. But don't worry they will turn on him and hound him out within 6 months when he loses the derby

How the fuck would they not love him?

Great football, beats the big boys often.

I wouldn’t be that disappointed with him here if Klopp left.
