Post Milk Cup Meanderings

I read the match thread after the game and was baffled with that abuse James Milner took. Why the hate? Why target it at Milner?
I feel a bit sorry for Milner actually. He must be looking around him and wondering why others aren't doing their jobs. He was even asked to play left back at one stage to fill the gaps that the hapless Moreno was leaving. He tried to run the entire left flank towards the end. He was still trying to set up chances and drive us on in extra time. Yeah a few of his set pieces were a bit heavy and he had the odd tired touch but I'll forgive him because at least he understands what is expected from him.
Milner is a complimentary player if that expression makes sense?? We know this from his time at City. He was excellent for them playing off the talented attacking talent they had at their disposal. However, he keeps falling in between roles for us. We obviously need more talent at our disposal so the likes of Milner can focus on their own roles instead of trying to do all roles at once. I've no problem with him though and he makes my team every day of the week. He should have taken the first penalty btw. I know Can scored our first but I don't agree with keeping your best takers til the end. Get them up first.

Also fair play to Adam Lallana for busting an absolute gut as soon as he was brought on. You only get once chance in a cup final so he seemed keen to do all he could whilst on the field of play. Good on him, he's fallen short for us as a signing but we can never fault his attitude.
P.S. I had a little lol to myself (not at his expense) when he hit the post to create the Coutinho goal. Once again Lallana being the nearly man for us.

His ability to wind up the whole site without particularly doing much is pretty impressive. I think he has possibly surpassed yourself.
