He was excellent against Spurs, but I'm not looking forward to seeing Navas against Flanno.

Loving this season so far and the positives are immense...

That was a good win today, against a team playing with a point to prove. What I liked most about it was the way our players seemed to expect to win from the moment the game kicked off... Last season, a team that pressed us that high up the field and worked that hard would have made it to halftime at 0-0 and maybe sneaked a winner. Not this year (for the most part, anyway). This team looks composed and self assured, and that's wonderful to see.

Sterling looks like a different player, Allen is starting to remember that he's actually a very decent player and Henderson is immense of late - All very positive signs. Couple all of the above to Luis' contract extension and we're making great strides in many areas.

The defense is not one of them, however - We remain abysmal at set pieces, our marking is non-existent at times, and it's only a matter of time before Skrtyl gives away multiple penalties. We need to tighten up the back four before going to Maine Road, or we may concede a hatful.

That said, wouldn't be surprised to see us bang in a few ourselves, the way we're playing.

We just need to do what we did against Spurs and ensure we don't leave players in dangerous one on one situations.

Lennon didn't do much damage because we cut off the supply more often than not.

True, but City are a very different team than Spurs in terms of quality though.
They'll miss Zabaleta on that right side though.

Really looking forward to this game actually. Hope we step up once again, a big loss would be hard to take.

If they keep it tight against city they can get a result. A nice smash & grab job.

I'd bite your hand off for a draw against Citeh and a sneaky win in London... I also think that we're very capable of doing that.

Me too. City have a leaky enough defense, fulham got 2 past them today (ok the OG was a bit of a fluke) & chelsea are hardly setting the world on fire.

If we get four points from the next two fixtures then I'll throw in my lot with Oncey .... but that isn't going to happen

I think we can beat City. Our focus has to be on keeping them out of our penalty area.

I know we can beat City.
We are actually better than they are on current form with our current best 11 versus their current best 11.
They have greater depth of course.
It will be a tighter game but I know we can win it

I said as much didn't I? They did well. Decent.

Pick one.

Ignore it mate, it was a cheap shit shot, I thought Kelly went walkabouts for the marking, he was the spare man when the goal went in. Skrtel was dragging players everywhere from setpieces - at the same time he fought tooth and nail to get the ball away or pressure the opponent, but the shirt tugging is wearing thin, Sakho was dominant, but I feel like there's a major fuck up around the corner. I thought Flanno did well, despite Ryan calling in just to point out that he got skinned by a winger.

All in all, could do better, I agree with your sentiment about the manager/training, we're awful from setpieces, regardless of personnel or systems, we're not commanding enough and we don't pick players up. When you consider how many players have played at the back in recent months, it's too much of a common occurrence, City will exploit it.

And why was Kelly so far from his position at the goal? We looked clueless at times and I mostly blame the manager. Something is not working.

I think Kelly lost his bearings thinking he was a CB, and I believe Sakho totally lost sight of the extra man or else he would've called out for help. Fucked up defending once again but I don't think this particular case is on the coaching staff.

The centrebacks, whoever are playing, need to work on their communication though. Again in this game, we saw two CBs going for the same aerial ball in open play on one occasion; it seems to happen once in every game, and often leads to a loose ball situation in a bad place. It happened between Skrtel and Toure I believe, leading to one of Hull's goals.

Such a tough game to judge, if things go our way can win well, but if we concede early we could take a belting.

Hopefully a tight game with no space little chances and we sneak with Luis doing something magical.

It's not that hard to get behind their fullbacks really. Sterling's hitting form at the right time and I expect him to give Clichy a difficult time. Defensively, Flanagan won't be playing one-on-one against Navas so I'm not so worried on that front - I expect Lucas or Coutinho will be putting in a shift to help him out, and Flanagan will be staying home more and focusing on shutting out.

Johnson actually worries me a lot more - he keeps giving the ball away when our lads are committed up front, and then he doesn't bother to recover. That means the guys who've moved forward now all need to turn around and backtrack to cover gaps they've left behind. With Citeh's pace and quality, it's worrying. Thankfully Sterling has a good pair of legs and works hard enough to help track back, but still, Johnson needs to take a hard look at himself. He's been pretty shit and reverting to his form under Hodgson, which is very worrying. The guy needs serious competition and a mighty kick up his arse.

sorry to be a pain, not sure I can be arsed enough to watch 90m of the whole game, anyone know of any extended highlight links?
