strange second half....at half time you couldn't see anything else than us adding to the scoreline but it was pretty poor.

And this defence thing is wrecking my head . we signed 2 first team centre backs in the summer and i still wouldn't mind getting another, one who's a proper organiser and leader .

but we're top of the league , it's christmas and i don't want Leo to call me moany cunt .

As much as Owen did my head in with his constant mentions of it - I've had vacuum cleaners more soothing than his voice - he was right about Skrtel holding players. He played well but that's a stupid part of his game he needs to cut out before refs target him.

I think our CB's did OK today. The problem imo were our fullbacks, none of them was good today. Our CB's weren't at fault for the goal. I think Kelly was a bit confused regarding who he should have been marking.

Would like to see their goal again. Terrible defending and whoever slacked off and left Sakho to guard two guys needs to hang his head in shame.

I was just watching it again . Sakho seems to get so distracted by trying to get them to hold the line on the edge of the box that he doesn't see the extra man behind him. But in fairness nobody else did . Very slack all round .

they do ok until it comes to set pieces , then it's obvious that we're missing an organiser back there . I have no confidence in use defending set pieces .

and we need to keep some more clean sheets , it's only 2 in like 13, 14 games .

Mignolet is the one with the fullest picture he should be screaming about a spare man at the back, maybe he was though I haven't seen his reaction

Just want to mention Allen, who I think worked socks off in midfield today. Harassed Cardiff's midfield and always chased lost causes.

Great result. Making good on the Flat Track bullies and Home Fortress plan.

No pressure for the Citeh game, we can go out and really play to our strengths.

Suarez is fabulous.

Some 2nd half complacency set in and a lack of organisation for the Cardiff goal aside we were impressive.

I'd advise you to look at what I've said about him before. I've always said that there's potential, but when I criticised him, deservedly so, he wasn't producing.
I know exactly what you said, you always mentioned how his end product is poor and that Suso should play because he has better end product. So I'm pointing out his end product to you.

I'm hoping the reason we dropped off was because we thought we'd already won, we can't afford to do that against either Man City or Chelsea.

It was a game we had to win, a potential stumbling block. Cardiff played very well the first quarter, but then Suarez' genius and confident attacking play tore them apart. A little disappointing in the second half that we let them have a glimmer of hope, but time to enjoy Christmas and look forward to exciting times ahead.

Allen was great in the first half, but lost the ball too much in the 2nd. I think like Henderson, he will get better given an extended run in the team.

At the time he didn't.

Im liking the new sterling (minus the bald patch). Before all he was was pace and very little end product. But his game seems to have matured and he's holding up the ball well, beating defenders, gotten stronger holding up the ball, tracks back and works hard. All he has to do is work on his finishing and left foot but he's definitely improved.

I am a bit worried about Skrtel's almost giving away two penalties. Sooner or later refs will pick up on that. Marking from set pieces also needs work. Maybe it's good Cardiff exposed some weaknesses that we can work out in training – and it didn't cost us much other than -1 in goal difference.

This game was dangerous; Cardiff players really tried their absolute hardest for the manager. Now I'm glad Rodgers didn't listen to me and did start with the strongest team, because those first 20 minutes were crucial. Had we not broken their resistance and spirit early, it would've been a very different game and possibly a different result.

Good win, but wasn't a patch on our game vs spurs. Suarez and Sterling we're brilliant up top (sterling is now actually passing to people).
We went back to our old nasty habits in the 2nd half, of taking our foot off the gas and being bollocks at the back. Hopefully Rodgers will get us back into the spurs shape for the next one.
Great win, great goals, and we're back in our rightful place in the league.

Superb result against a team who parked the bus
Suarez = best player in the world ATM
Henderson was sensational, that pass and backheel was majestic
Sterling and Sahko superb
Flanno and Johnson rubbish
Top of the league a wOo hoo

I'm glad that Cardiff got back into the game, we need a reality check. I really hope Brendan points that out to them.

I just hope that he doesn't use the fact that three at the back helped us out at the end of the game as some kind of temptation to go back to three at the back for City.

Bit harsh on Flanno, our defence turned to shit when he went off.

anyone have any gifs of the goals? I was out on the town and missed the whole game!

don't see sterlings anywhere

skrtel - i'm well aware he's had lots of good performances but still after all these yrs here i don't fully trust him . His style is just not what i like in my defenders . the way he marks set pieces is just nuts . He's like an NFL cornerback , he doesn't seem to look at the ball but follows the man . And he's so lucky he doesn't get pulled up more often for the wrestling he does in the box.

You know ...i can live with conceding goals as a result of being more attacking , players caught out far up the pitch etc ...but our biggest issue seems to be set pieces and being organised .

Anyway suarez is amazing and all that .

Too bad this does show the whole counter-attack. Henderson made it happen with an excellent pass. He's really come in leaps and bounds...

Yea it's a pretty shit gif, starts way too late. Great (first time?) pass with the outside of the foot.

I'd like to see the Cardiff goal gif start a bit earlier to see if anyone is paying attention to the two men Sakho has.
