Poor the Ox

Any real news on him?

He's had a few knee injuries before, so you can safely assume he knows what one is by now. Look at his face after it happened, again you can safely assume he knows it's bad and he's fucked. The news is inevitable.

Based on his reaction and Klopps comments afterwards it doesnt sound like an impact injury. If thats true best case hes done his cartlidge and its a relatively simple rehab and hes back in contention preseason. Worst case reptured his ACL and hes looking at 9 - 12 month rehab.

Strained rather than torn, I pray.

I have a feeling it was initially strained or just partially torn, our doctors ran on and after a few moments they lifted him onto his feet to "check he was ok" I suppose. At that point his knee buckled and he collapsed to the ground. That's when the useless cunt of a doctor turned around and gestured for a sub. I'm almost certain that is when his strained ligament was ripped clean off the bone. Had it been torn from the outset, then Ox would have stayed down. The poor bastard would have been better off being attended to by Roma fans rather than our medical staff.

You must have a fairly low opinion of our medical team, a physio who asked a player to walk on a suspect ruptured ligament wouldnt get a job anywhere near a premier league football club. You can check for knee ligament damage without getting somebody to stand.

But that's exactly what he did. I know because I was watching in disbelief as it happened.

Liverpool expect Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain to be fit for the start of next season.

The player was undergoing a scan on Wednesday on the knee injury he suffered during Tuesday night's Champions League game with Roma.

Although he is expected to suffer World Cup heartbreak and be missing from England manager Gareth Southgate's squad, Anfield medical staff now believe the injury is not as serious as first feared.

Let's hope not.
I thought it was wierd how they made him stand.

yep it's acl. out for nine months. so basically write him off next season.
Oh fucking hell. Poor lad. I've been refreshing the page hoping for good news on this. This isn't what any of us wanted to hear. Terrible news for him and his Liverpool/England career. And he'll miss out on a CL final - absolutely gutted for the lad.

So he's not dead then? You hear that Dreamy?

[article]Liverpool FC can confirm Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain's 2017-18 season is over for both club and country due to a knee ligament injury sustained against AS Roma on Tuesday evening.

The midfielder was forced from the field after 18 minutes of the Reds’ 5-2 victory in the Champions League semi-final first leg at Anfield after picking up the issue during an attempted challenge.

The extent of the injury means Oxlade-Chamberlain is set to miss the remainder of the campaign for Liverpool, as well as the World Cup finals in Russia with England.

The 24-year-old was assessed by the club’s medical team at Melwood on Wednesday morning and no specific timescale is being placed upon his return to action at this stage.

However, Oxlade-Chamberlain will now begin a rehabilitation programme to enable him to reach full fitness again as soon as possible, returning to action next season.[/article]

What the fuck kind of vague bullshit is that by the club? It all but confirms they are worried about a potential negligence claim in relation to the physio.

Who was it that was claiming this guy was a kid that just wanted to play video games all the time? The guys such a class act, he impresses me everytime he talks. Gutted for him, but hoping it's only five games this season he misses, and a good preseason gets him back up to full speed, he's got a big future here.
