Philippe Coutinho, Part II

Some dude did say he'd be here on Thursday for a medical, so maybe. On a side note, I never understand how footballers can do this, just decide in a week or two to uproot and move to another country. It took me three months to decide to move across town, madness.

You were not getting paid about 50k a week to do it

"@bbcmerseysport: Inter Milan have accepted Southampton's £10.2 million bid for Liverpool target Phillipe Coutinho. Will Liverpool match that bid ?"

Inter have apperantly gotten a bid for Paulinho accepted, Coutinho will probably move to us now.

It doesn't really matter what Southampton's bid is, or it's accepted or not if he wants a move to Liverpool

Obviously in some cases a player's desire to join your club can force the selling club's hand , but equally if they dig their heels in for the higher bid then the player might have no option but to go there especially if he's desperate to leave .

I know you need to be strict and work to budget when you're trying to implement a transfer plan like we seem to be , but at the same time if you really , really want the player you might just have to work outside those lines the odd time .

If BR wants him, just pay the extra 1-2m. Hate the way we fuck about over small differences in fees on players. We have missed out on so many players in the past with such tactics. Damning if we lose out to Southampton for a player.

I don't agree - that's why we ended up paying extra for Henderson, Downing etc ... Yes, we get screwed sometimes (Alves, Dempsey etc) but unless it's someone we really really want, let it be. There's plenty of young talent out there - and clubs need to start learning - we pay what a player is worth, not worth + liverpool premium.

But Isn't Coutinho amongst the select few out of the youngsters in that age group tipped for greatness?
We're not being asked to pay Downing, Carroll, Henderson money here. Less than Allen even. We're not paying the sort of fee City paid for Robinho.
10m for a player of his potential is nothing.
And while we're likely to receive less than half of what we paid for the likes of Downing and Carroll should we be able to flog them, the same can't be said for 10m Coutinho. We'll more than likely make the money back should he not set the world alight.

Well, no news from Southampton's good news for us.
We need these kinds of signings.
Young, skillfull, athletic, cheap. Even at 10m.

Think it will happen, as the player favours us.
Our 7,6 mill bid has been rejected and they want 10.

We'll probably do business with a 9ish mill bid

" He wants Liverpool"

Southampton offer 10.2 Euro but The Playmaker wants time to wait for The Reds.
