You should care; because you're a fan of THIS club and because you're a foreign fan, a lot of people will think you epitomise the atypical foreign Liverpool fan.

And that is why I'm imploring with you to SHUT.UP.

I'm not going to quote you or reply to you on this anymore, but please think on it, OK?
Nothing to think of mate, im a liverpool fan through and through and it will continue regardless of what people here think or say 🙂

My "image" to others doesnt mean shit, im not here to try impress anyone

Grjt makes a valid point, but I suppose it isn't relevant when we're talking about someone like zlatan, who isn't ever likely to visit Anfield

Also, it would be statistically unlikely to presuppose that we don't have at least some OOT Liverpool fans who understand nothing about the club, don't give '2 fucks' about the songs, and are generally massive, know-nothing cunts that everyone hates

This is true, but it makes me sad. Fortunately most of the far-away fans that I meet "get" what it means to be a Liverpool fan. The ones that dont, and show no interest in learning, are quite simply cunts.

Leave Zlatan alone, he's probably just a kid. He needs educating, not abusing.
Im 21, and i dont need educating from someone like brendan who doesnt know much about football.

He can stick to his assumptions about players and people, because when it comes down to it he really doesnt know much at all

I don't hate Zlatan or think he's a cunt or a bellend. I also don't care if he doesn't know his history. It's completely up to him how he supports Liverpool.

Completely up to an individual how he/she supports the club? Really? Do most fans think this? I dont think so, at all.

Are you happy for people to show up at Anfield and try to start ManU and Chelsea songs, and make us look and feel small-time? Are you happy for people to not show any interest in tragic events in our history, our legacy, or the amazing achievements, etc?

Either you are, or you do have at least some assumed criteria for fellow fans.

Never did i say i didnt care about our clubs history or achievments or legacy or the tragic events that happened during our clubs existance. All i said was i dont care about the songs being chanted on game day as i live in australia and not the uk so i dont get to go to anfield to sing them. Hence there being no difference to me about that. But you saying i dont care about the clubs history or anything like that.. well then your just an a-grade fucking idiot.

It's pretty shameful the treatment he's getting here, I'm unsure where the best aspects of our fans are?

There isn't any guidelines how to support a football club is there? At least their shouldn't be as long as we can all agree upon wanting Liverpool to succeed.

I'm not saying I agree with Zlatan's take on it beacuse I don't but I know there are posters on here who knows more of our history than I do. And can sing along on more of the songs too.

What matters is whether you love the club or not. If you don't you probably wouldn't spend time on a hardcore Liverpool-footie forum like 6CM.

Errrr, watch your fucking mouth. Where did I say ANY of this was related to you?

I couldnt give a fuck about you or what you believe in. Mine was a wider question about how much supporters can accept or tolerate other supporters opinions and levels of interest when they dont match their own, and what our minimum expectations are. None of this has anything to do with you, and I havent mentioned you anywhere. Fuck off.

Youre right KHL, there arent any guidelines, but this doesnt mean that we dont all have assumptions. For example, I, like you, would say that loving the club is of primary importance. But how would I react to someone who claimed to "love" the club, but couldnt, say, name the manager? Or give an opinion on the ownership issue? Or show respect to some of the clubs legends? Or demonstrate understanding of some of the critical events in our past?

It would be nice to simply say, "oh everyone can support the club as they want, and do what they like" but in my view this doesnt wash.

Looking at the issue from another persepective, many fans (and more than we would like to admit) actively dislike people like you/ anyone from out of town attending matches at Anfield. If we let them "support the club as they like" they would actively look to discourage you from attending, sing their songs about getting the woolies off the Kop, etc, generally create an uncomfortable environment for the non-scouse contingent - can you live and let live in that scenario? Im not sure.

Some of the remarks thrown at Zlatan are way way over the top. When there is blood in the water, you can bet some on here are circuelating.

Its all a sliding scale isnt it Oncy, but its interesting to see where people draw their own line. Its easier to slate fans of others clubs (like a guy in my clients organisation who is "a big Man U fan", but on a consistent basis has no idea what the scores at the weekend have been, when their next fixture is, etc) but less easy to accept that some of your fellow fans "support" in a very different way to you.

I get your drift.

But as many as we are supporters as many different takes on it will there be. Different levels of love and commitment is inevitable. Some are getting married wearing Torres no. 9 and some are sleeping on a Gerrard-pillow. Some goes to Anfield week in week out some watches from afar. Some are only cheering on us becasue of Torres some knows every player who's been at the club since 1900.

But as long as you're not hurting any fellow fans through disrespectful comments or even acts of violence I wouldn't have a problem really. Every man and woman for their own.

The abuse going Zlatans way in this thread was OTT whether you agree with his stance or not.

I really dont care whether or not you used my name as you became of this opinion after the thing with me not knowing what a *team of carraghers* meant. It obvious who it was directed at.

Anyway so you are saying that if you dont know much about the club (as many new fans such as kids wouldnt know) then you shouldnt support liverpool?

That's a slightly different argument though and one I've had many a time with particularly 'United-fans'. Mostly because their past 12 years of succes has seen the glory-hunters queing up.

Zlatan is hardly a glory-hunter.

If I'm mistaken he's done a rather poor job mind.

Good points KHL. I guess I just found it illuminating how many of us would like to think we are very open minded about our shared love for the club with other fans, but actually, when you dig a little deeper, we have predilictions and strong feelings regarding how this manifests itself.

I was probably seduced by the early glory (and the fear of my older LFC supporting brother) when I became a supporter aged about 4 or so, and straight into a Euro victory. I've had 20 years of penance to make up for my enjoyment of the 'glory [hunter] years' though.

Yeah, zlatan's had some *disgraceful* treatment today. Here's a quick summary picked at random from his posts on 6CM. And these aren't edited. This is what he's like all the time. A fucking massive zlatan:

Massive Zlatan on spelling and forum etiquette:

"Obviously ur the 1 that needs urgent help if ur on tht website. Seriously some of use need to get ur heads taken out of ur arse's becoz they are shoved so high right up there.

as for u brendan... ur just a clueless cunt and know nothing about the game"

"who gives a shit how some people spell stuff, point is we all understand what we are all saying. Just some people like "mamma mia" have to try and make themselves sound like heroes and like they know it all"

"id love to kick the fucking shit out of you, but unfortunetly i cant..

Massive Zlatan on Benitez:

"benitez wasnt that special when he first came to us either thats the stupidest thing i have read, so if you call benitez a cunt then you should get banned? ok so then everyone can just talk about how great benitez is "

"hey pesam... your a fucking cunt =]
how about that..
you and rafa can go fuck eachother.."

"Also this zonal marking shit is fucking useless, when will that fat fuck learn?
im out... get the fat fuck out of our club"

"Sack the cunt end of the season and bring in mourinho.. even gerrard and torres think he is a clueless cunt"

Massive Zlatan on Jamie Carragher:

"Skrtel is a much better defender and player than carragher HANDS DOWN
Agger is also a much better defender and player than carragher HANDS DOWN
As for the greek well he should be sitting next to carragher on the bench =] thats where they both deserve to be"

"Carragher has no speed
Carragher has no passing ability
Carragher has no scoring ability (besides from scoring own goals)
Carraghers defending is also questionable (drogba drilled him with ease the other day and so did JOVETIC.. a 19year old) thats saying something..

carragher is ass.. ive said it all along but no-one wants to believe it"

Massive Zlatan on strikers and managers:

"You dont rate Ibrah? just look at his record at every club he goes to he is a winner! you just know shit all about the game"

"would love Fatih Terim to be our new coach
He reminds me or a turkish mourinho and has had a sucessful playing career aswell as managerial career"

Yeah, it's amazing that so many people think all of his posts are really, really fucking shit.

i feel special that you spent that time going through old posts to find stuff ive said ages ago 😉

i still stick with my comments that i have said all along.

- brendan... ur just a clueless cunt and know nothing about the game. - mind hasnt changed

- Also this zonal marking shit is fucking useless, when will that fat fuck learn. - i was right, this is one of the reasons he lost his job as it cost us a few games

- Agger and Skrtel are much better defenders and players than carragher. Said this all along, Carragher is past his best now and should be on the bench. It showed in the world cup when he was beaten for pace by a player of ALTIDORES quality

- You dont rate Ibrah? just look at his record at every club he goes to he is a winner! you just know shit all about the game - If you have followed his career ever since his ajax days like i have then you would appreciate a striker with his qualities

what else have you got brendan? keep it coming mate 🙂
