According to Greek media, the fee is €19m (£16.3m).

@neiljonesecho German journalist Raphael Honigstein said Papadopoulos is pretty close to joining Liverpool. True, mate?

@LFCTransferNRS If Raphael said that, I'd take his word mate. Liverpool are keen on KP, that's for definite.

@neiljonesecho Do you think Alderweireld will join LFC?

@DanAmjad There's a chance. He's been mentioned by the club. Papadopoulos more likely though. Be surprised if both.

By all accounts, the Greek lad is 6' tall which, whilst not exactly short, doesn't seem to suggest that he will be aerially dominant.

Watch that video. He's seems a strong lad with a decent leap. It's not all about height - look at Crouch. He can't get off the ground at all.

I don't know much about him, but we're paying a high(ish) price for a CB so he better be good. I'm concerned we're paying an inflated fee because Russian clubs have already had bids accepted for him. Hopefully he's a good enough to justify the outlay.

I think he has all the potential in the world to become an excellent centre back. I saw him mop up three clangers by Metzelder in one game that he had absolutely no right to. The injury is a concern though as is the fee.

I haven't seen him play apart from the Euro's and it's always difficult to rate the individual Greek player at Int. level as they are often forming the wall of Sparta.

However, despite the rather steep quoted prize, I am feeling confident he is a good player with even greater potential.

Rodgers have made mistakes in his first Season here, and more than a couple too, but there's one area where I believe he has already proved himself greatly, and that is when it comes to spotting talent.

His injury record is the main concern as has been said.

Hasnt he had one serious injury?

He's a beast. Excellent on the air, strong as hell and pretty quick
All the potential in the world.

The leagues best header of the ball is 6"2. Height doesnt matter that much.

From that video, he does remind me of Carra quite a lot. Very aggressive on the back of forwards, throws himself about and sacrifices his body to make a clock, hoofs the ball upfield when he does not have a better idea, and even seems to like yelling at other players. Seems a good partner for Agger - but hopefully not on the treatment table.

They both have heads.

My source in Germany says he is a beast, and threatens to end our friendship if Liverpool buy him. I tried to explain I have very little influence over our transfer strategy, but he wouldn't listen.

i saw a lot of hoofing first 1 min of that vid, is he really a Rogers type player, or should I watch the whole thing?

To me there are really only 2 types of central defenders, those that read danger and those that react to it. The ones that read danger position themselves better and are generally more agressive as they are in place when the ball is there to be won, those that react are often faster a more eye catching because they have to perform more spectacular acts to redeem the situation. From what I can see this guy looks like a reader, which is exactly what we need to replace Carra, somebody who can spot the danger get into position and organise those around him.

Agger for all his obvious talent as a footballer is a reactionary centreback he needs to play alongside somebody who reads the game and provides direction to him, I think this guy would be great for us.

Is he likely to get done for armed robbery and leave him and his sister in law as birds of a feather?!!!

As others have alluded to already in the thread he's also very vocal. He's not afraid to bollock someone regardless of who they are. From what Rodgers has said this season about what we were lacking defensively he ticks all the boxes.

He seems to be the type of guy who treats it as his personal insult when the opposition is allowed to create a shooting chance. Like Carra.

£15m seems a bit high though considering we don't have that much money. Im sure we could find a decent CB for half that price. For £15m I'd want a hyypia type player with pace.

Kyriakos Papadopoulos adviser has told Bild that his client isn't interested in a move despite several offers from big Premier League clubs.
